GL Program Objectives:
 Cultivate a deeper understanding of the processes that drive globalization and the
way that globalizing forces affect our lives
 Develop an understanding of the impact of technologies on geographical, economic,
cultural, and political systems throughout the world
 Provide a forum for discussion of ethical and social issues that arise in our global
political, economic, cultural, technical, and environmental interactions
 Offer opportunities to investigate the interplay of local and global forces in
communities anywhere in the world
 Encourage the use and refinement of a second or third language, through study and
cultural immersion
 Cultivate a sophisticated perspective on global issues through study abroad or
community-engaged learning experiences linked to global justice and peace
