Property Standards Bylaw, Chapter 465 - Maintain interior and exterior of property and building - All structures and fences are to be structurally safe and sound - Trees are not to be dead, dying or decayed - All stairs are to be safe and have even run and rise - Means of egress must be provided - Separations between units must be approved by the Brantford Fire Department - Driveway is to be in a safe condition - Drainage, electrical and plumbing systems are to be provided, installed and maintained - Waste on porches/decks and in carports not permitted - Cockroaches, termites, bedbugs, rodents and vermin to be treated and removed - Accumulations of mould to be abated - Heating to be provided to all rooms at 21degrees C Lot Maintenance & Waste, Chapter 492 - Long grass and weeds over 8 inches are to be cut - Unlicenced/inoperable vehicles are not allowed on the property - All waste to be removed Noise Control Bylaw, Chapter 554 - Prohibited at all times (persistent dog barking, fireworks, explosive devices, firearms, model devices, recreational vehicles) - Prohibited between 9:00pm and 7:00am (music, amplified sound, yelling, shouting, operation of equipment for construction, operation of tools for domestic purposes other than snow removal, train signals) Zoning Bylaw 160-90 - Commercial vehicles are not allowed on residential properties - No parking on front lawn - No storage or parking of motor homes, trailers, snowmobiles, boats in front yard/driveway - School buses are not allowed to be parked on residential properties - Home occupations are permitted w no open storage, etc. - Shed/ac unit setbacks Swimming Pools, Chapter 437 - Permit is required for pools and hot tubs that can hold over 18” of water - Setbacks are to be 1.5m (5 ft) from property lines and any structures - Property to be fenced in with a locked gate Fences, Chapter 438 - Maximum height in side and rear yards is 2.2m (7 ft 2 in) - Maximum height in front yard is 1.5m (4 ft 11 in) if it has daylight visibility and 1.0m (3 ft 28 in) if it is solid Signs, Chapter 478 - Signs or notices of any kind are not allowed on City poles unless you obtain a permit - Signs of any kind are not allowed on City property - Mobile signs require a permit and drawing of location plus a permit - Ground, wall, billboard and banner signs require permits Smoking, Chapter 570 - No smoking in any public place unless there is a designated smoking area Curbside Garbage, Chapter 440 - Garbage pickup is weekly and garbage is not to be put out at curb until after 7:00pm the day before pickup - Solid waste not fitting into containers should be bundled no heavier than 25kg (55 lbs) and no larger than 1.2m (4 ft) in length - Waste not picked up and left at curbside is the responsibility of the owner for removal Snow Removal, Chapter 614 - Sidewalks are to be cleared after every snow fall and within 24 hrs - Unoccupied buildings, vacant lots or parking lots are to have snow and ice removed within 24 hrs Contact Operations 519.752.4832 E-Bikes, Chapter 420 - Not allowed on any trail or in any City Park.
