ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS FOR STUDENT LEADERSHIP POSITIONS Cumulative GPA Requirement 3.0 and above 2.75 and above 2.50 and above Leadership Position Assistant Coaches Academic Resource Guides Tutors College Access Adv. Mentors The Fine Print If any student leader* falls below the required GPA for the position the student can continue in his/her role for the next semester only if he/she agrees to do MAPS or sign an agreement outlining conditional expectations with his/her supervisor**. This semester will be called a probationary semester. During this probationary semester the student must raise his/her cumulative GPA to the required level by the end of said semester to be retained for the next semester. All student leaders will have an academic review conducted two weeks after the semester is over. If a student is contesting a grade after they have been posted, the student must inform his/her supervisor as soon as possible. If a student chooses not to participate in MAPS or sign an expectations agreement, the student must resign from the leadership position. If it is not mathematically possible for a student to raise his/her GPA to the requirement in one semester, or the student has fallen below the required GPA more than once during their time as a leader, the student may be removed from his/her duties at the end of the semester. Professional staff also reserves the right to relieve a student leader of his/her position if he/she falls below the GPA requirement more than once. If a student is released from a leadership position, he/she may re-apply during recruitment once they are able to meet the GPA requirement of the desired position. Professional staff members reserve the right to make exceptions to these requirements on a case-by-case basis. Summer grades do not affect probation or drop status. *To be placed on a probationary semester, Tutors and Academic Resource Guides are only allowed to fall within a tenth of the required GPA (i.e. 2.9) **Supervisor may be a professional staff member or a higher level student leader depending upon the student’s request or degree to which the student is not meeting the stated requirements.
