If your teacher is not available, please feel free to receive tutoring from one of the other teachers in the department. Failure to maintain a safe lab environment will result in a zero for the lab activity on the day of the offense. If a student repeatedly violates lab safety rules, they will be excluded from lab activities the remainder of the year and be given an alternative assignment. Assessment Days: The science department will take major tests on Wednesdays and Fridays. ILT Day: The science department’s Increased Learning Time (ILT) will be on Tuesdays. On Tuesdays, science classes will participate in differentiated activities. ILT is designed to increase student achievement. Prefix Quizzes: Students will take 12 quizzes over subject area prefixes. This list will be provided for the student at the beginning of the year and it is the responsibility of the student to maintain this list. (ELHS Handbook, page 13) Work not made up will result in a grade of zero. Work Not Turned In When Due: Make-up work does not apply to assignments that receive a zero because they are not turned in. Assignments that are not turned in on time will receive a zero and will not be allowed to be made up. Any deviation from this policy shall be the decision of the Teacher. Retest Policy: If a student fails a major TEST, they are allowed to retake that test one time. The retake test will be worth a maximum score of 70 and will replace the original grade. The student will have a five-day window to retake the test after receiving the original grade. Retake time shall be decided between the teacher and the student. Retakes must be taken outside of class time. 9 Weeks exams: We will have a cumulative exam at the end of each nine weeks. This exam will cover all standards taught up to the date of the exam. Class Pages: Students will have access to online resources, calendars, assignments, and other reminders through their teacher’s class page, accessible through the school’s home page. Students may be required to complete online assignments or post things to their teacher’s class page.
