Job purpose
To teach at postgraduate level, and to undertake leadership, management and engagement activities.
Key accountabilities/primary responsibilities
1.
Support the teaching objectives of the Academic Unit by delivering teaching to students
at postgraduate level, through allocated lectures, tutorials, practicals, seminars and
student supervision. Set and mark coursework and exams, providing constructive
feedback to students. Share responsibility for maintenance of Blackboard website and
readiness of Module material

Continually update and develop own knowledge and understanding of subject area, and
implement innovative teaching, learning and assessment methods and techniques in the
sector, and pedagogic research generally, bringing new insights to the Academic Unit.

3.
Oversee the work of module leaders in setting of coursework, exams and dissertations;
contribute to marking and provision of constructive feedback to students, and oversee
Administrator liaison with Exams team.

Oversee the collection and timely feedback of information from module and programme
to PGT committees and to HEE.

Contribute to the efficient management and administration of the Programme/Faculty by
performing personal administrative duties as allocated by the MSc Genomic Medicine
Programme Leader, e.g. module leader etc.

Internal and external relationships







Responsible to Programme Leaders in overarching course content and delivery
Responsible to PGT committee for validation of course content
Responsibility over Module leaders for integration of module content into programme structure, and
compliance of content and assessment with accreditation criteria
Responsibility (with programme leaders) over administrator
Liaison with other teachers on the programmes, education manager and administrative staff and with
course coordinators.
Liaison with Faculty committees as appropriate.
May collaborate with colleagues in other institutions on content, and teaching and learning practice.
