The Secretariat of Scientific Excellence Awards - Qassim University,
calls for nominations for the Fourth Year (1430H/2009G) Scientific
Excellence Award for the Best PhD Thesis in Theoretical Sciences
and Best PhD Thesis in Applied Sciences and the Best Masters
Degree Thesis in Theoretical Sciences and Best Masters Degree
Thesis in Applied Sciences, Offered at Qassim University
 Value of The Award
The Award comprises:
- A financial reward of 20,000 (twenty thousand) riyals and a
certificate of recognition for the best PhD thesis in theoretical
sciences and an equal reward and a certificate of recognition
for the best PhD thesis in Applied Science
- A financial reward of 10,000 (ten thousand) riyals and a
certificate of recognition for the best Masters thesis in
theoretical science and a similar reward and a certificate of
recognition for the best Masters thesis in Applied Science

Conditions for Application
1. The post graduate degree (PhD or Masters) must have been
obtained from Qassim University within two years prior to
the date of application
2. The thesis must be submitted only once and shall not be
resubmitted for the same Award

Criteria for Evaluation of Theses
The following criteria will be implemented to differentiate between
submitted theses:
1. The research idea must be innovative, outstanding and
provides new addition to knowledge
2. The research idea must contribute to solving society problems
and that it provides a method of developing national
resources.

Five irretrievable copies of the thesis including cover page
signed by the examiners (reviewers) and Five copies of the
summary in Arabic and the summary in English, in addition
to an electronic copy of thesis as pdf document
An electronic copy of the applicant's CV in Arabic and in
English for those applying in the field of applied sciences
and in Arabic only for those applying in the field of
theoretical subjects; major and minor specialization of the
applicant have to be included.
A paper copy and an electronic copy of ten reviewers in the
field of specialization of the thesis along with the address of
each reviewer are to be submitted.
All papers and documents are irretrievable excluding a
single copy of the thesis retrievable after announcement of
the winners of the Awards.
If parts of the thesis were published, a paper copy and an
electronic one of each paper extracted from the thesis have
to be presented.
If the journal where the paper was published is electronic,
means and ways of accessing that journal must be provided
along with a paper copy and an electronic copy of the paper.

 Steps of Thesis Evaluation
1. The submitted thesis is subject to the set of criteria of
evaluating Excellence Prices in Qassim University.
2. If the prize is won by more than one applicant, each one of
them will get a winner's certificate and the financial award
shall be equally shared by them.
3. The Secretariat of Scientific Excellence Awards decides
upon conferring Awards upon winners, as well as
determining the date and place of the ceremony and all
other related aspects.
