2014 Miss Golden Isles and Miss Golden Isles’ Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageant (A Preliminary for the 2014 Miss Georgia and Miss Georgia’s Outstanding Teen Pageant) Dear Possible Contestant: We are excited that you are considering on becoming a contestant in the 2014 Miss Golden Isles and Miss Golden Isles’ Outstanding Teen Pageant, which will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at the historic Ritz Theatre in downtown Brunswick. This is a great way to earn some scholarship money and possibly go on to compete for 2014 Miss Georgia or for 2014 Miss Georgia’s Outstanding Teen which will be held June 14-21, 2014 in Columbus. Because the Miss America rules do not permit the charging of entry fees for the Miss contestants, only Teen Contestants are required to pay an entry fee of $135.00. Only Miss Contestants are required to raise $100.00 for the Miss America’s National Platform-the Children’s Miracle Network. In order for a Miss Contestant to participate in the Miss Golden Isles Pageant this donation must be raised by the deadline of Saturday, October 19. All monies raised are tax deductible and tax receipts are available upon request. (See information forms.) All Contestants are required to write a Resume and choose a Platform. A platform may be an organization that you would like to promote or an issue that you care about. Such as: Autism, Cancer Research, Hospice, Boys and Girls Club, etc. Contestants are required to write a Platform Statement expressing why you chose this particular platform and how you would go about promoting it. Both the Resume and Platform Statement will be given to the judges in advance of the pageant to use during your Private Interview. All Resumes and Platform Statements must be turned in by Saturday, October 19, 2013. (See information forms.) All Contestants will be mailed 5 tickets at the cost of $15.00 each ticket to sell to benefit the Miss Golden Isles Scholarship Fund. Additional tickets will be given upon request. Ticket money must be turned in or mailed to me Golden by Saturday, November 2. Contestants will have the opportunity to compete for the Miss Golden Isles People’s Choice Award or the Miss Golden Isles’ Outstanding Teen People’s Choice Award. Your family and friends will have the opportunity at the pageant to support you by casting their votes at the People’s Choice Table on November 16. The costs of each vote is $1.00. The photo that you submit for the program book will be used at the People’s Choice table unless you want to submit another photo. All Contestants are required to have a talent. (See Talent Request Form.) If you already know what your talent selection is, please feel free to email me your form. (annrh1215@yahoo.com) It is best to turn in your Talent Request Form quickly because no two contestants are allowed to have the same music, so the first one to submit their talent request will be the one that will be permitted to perform the selection in question. The date of your email, postmark date on your envelope or delivery date to me will determine when the form was submitted. You may either mail or bring your talent CD-R to me. (No CD-RW-these will not work) All contestants CD-R must be turned in by Saturday, October 19. Please be sure to have two copies made, one for us and one for you to keep for practice. Please note: Talent time is limited to a total of 90 seconds which is the same as the Miss Georgia Pageant. All Contestants are required to furnish a head and shoulders photo for the program book. The photo may be black and white or color. The program book is printed in black and white so color does not matter. You must email the photo to me by Saturday, October 19. (annrh1215@yahoo.com) Again this year, we will present a Photogenic Award at the pageant for a Miss and a Teen Contestant. A $20.00 Photogenic Fee is required for this competition. Princesses will be in a group production number and will also be presented with their contestant during the evening wear competition of the pageant. The Miss Golden Isles Board will try to provide each contestant with a Princess unless you want to select one of your own. Princesses must be between the ages of 6-12 years old. Please complete that information on your entry form. If you want to choose your own Princess, please print the Miss Golden Isles Princess Program Entry Package off our website and pass on to the young lady of your choice. Deadline for Princess entries is Saturday, October 19. In order to participate in a Miss Georgia Preliminary Pageant, all contestants are required to sign a contract. A contract will be mailed to you once we received your entry form, and entry fee (if applicable) that is due on Saturday, October 19. This contract must be notarized and mailed back to me by the deadline of Saturday, November 9. All Contestants are required to attend the Dress Rehearsal which will be held on Friday, November 15, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until done at the historic Ritz Theatre, 1530 Newcastle Street, Brunswick, GA 31520. Interviews for all contestants will be held on Saturday, November 16 at our host hotel, the Embassy Suites, 500 Mall Blvd. (located in the Glynn Place Mall) Brunswick, GA 31525. Interviews will most likely begin around 9:45 a.m. for the Miss Contestants (depending on the number of the contestants) and 12:45 p.m. for the Teen Contestants. (See information form.)
