New Psychology Award
The Lynn Karen Adams (nee Broholm) Memorial
Scholarship
This generous scholarship will award one Psychology student
$3000 to be paid next semester. The student must:
 Be a full-time student majoring in Psychology.
 Be a transfer student from a two-year college who has been
accepted for admission to Eastern Illinois University
(current students who previously transferred from a 2-year
college are eligible).
 Have at least a 2.75 GPA in all college-level courses.
 Financial need is not a consideration.
 Students must be enrolled at Eastern in the Semester when
they will receive the award (Fall, 2012).
 Preference will be given to candidates for this scholarship
who have a demonstrated knowledge of and familiarity
with customs and culture of the Mediterranean area of the
world. (However, this is not an absolute requirement, and
should not be a barrier to anyone applying for the award).

Award Criteria:



Transfer student from a two-year college who has been accepted for admission to Eastern Illinois
University (current students who previously transferred from a 2-year college are eligible).

2.75 GPA in all college-level courses.

Financial need is not a consideration.

A recipient can receive the award a second time, but may not receive it more than twice.
The award winner will be announced in the Spring, and payment will be made the following Fall
semester. Students must be enrolled at Eastern (as either an undergraduate or graduate student) in the
Semester when they will receive the award.
Preference will be given to candidates for this scholarship who have a demonstrated knowledge of and
familiarity with customs and culture of the Mediterranean area of the world. (However, this is not an
absolute requirement, and should not be a barrier to anyone applying for the award).
Application Instructions:
1. Complete the application cover sheet on the other side of this page.
2. Print a copy of your degree audit, and include it in your application package.
3. As a requirement for this award, you must include in your application an essay on the importance
of love and marriage. Please write this essay on a separate page, and include it with your
application. Essays must be typed, double-spaced.
4. Return your completed application package to the EIU Psychology Department office by April
16, 2012:

Applicants for the Lynn Karen Adams Scholarship are not required to know about the culture
and customs of the Mediterranean area of the world, but knowledge and familiarity with such
