Term finishes next Thursday (22nd) at 3.05pm, but it only seems a few days since I welcomed everyone back after the Summer Holidays. Violet Class has 5 x 100 squares and an extra 15 minutes play at lunchtime. Stars of the Week Red Jacob for being so ready to learn and joining in so well. Jake for being wonderfully ready to learn always and for fabulous phonics. Orange Lily for being an exemplary role model to all. Yellow Riley for being fantastic in all he does. Ava for being confident and brave. Green Liam for fantastic effort in all his work and for always taking advice on board. Zoe for her kind and caring attitude – she is always happy to help other children. Blue Gina for always trying her best. Indigo Leonie for high standards of learning and following instructions first time. Vixen for effort and success in maths – missing numbers. Violet Phoebe for being ready for the “Great British Bake Off” – a very organised chef! Olivia for being a ray of sunshine, bubbly, bright and brilliant. Mr Borrell Katelyn for good progress this week. National Roast Dinner Day – Wednesday 4th November We are celebrating this day by:1. Inviting you/family/friends to drop into school between 11.30am and 12.30pm to see for yourself the quality of food that we now serve daily; Or 2. Order a main course and dessert for £2.30 and sample a meal for yourself between 1.15pm and 2.00pm once the children have returned to class, although we will have some of the older children on hand to serve you. So for Option 1 – just turn up! For Option 2 – please send in the order form at the end of this newsletter and £2.30 by the end of next week. No late orders will be accepted with it being the end of term. The menu for the day is: Roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and broccoli, followed by fruit salad. In addition, freshly baked bread, salad bar, fresh fruit, cheese and crackers or yoghurt are also available as always. School Council The children have met briefly and have been invited to come back with suggestions for outside playground equipment that may be used at lunchtimes. At next week’s meeting children will be invited to donate small items of unwanted toys or pencils/crayons, reading books and drawing books or toiletries that may be packed into a shoebox and then sent to the Rotary Club prior to sending to orphanages abroad. Any donations are very much appreciated. Black History Day – Collective Worship – Thursday October 22nd, 2.00pm All classes will be celebrating Black History on Thursday as part of our diversity awareness and each class will present their work in Collective Worship at the end of the day. You are very welcome to join us. Funding Petition The petition to Parliament from all schools across Lincolnshire, complaining about the unfairness of funding given to Lincolnshire schools compared to the national average will be sent next Thursday 22nd October. If you feel able to sign and support the campaign, but haven’t done so already, please come to the office where the petition is sitting on the window ledge. Young Voices The order for tickets, T-shirts, etc. will be sent off on Wednesday along with the permission slips. We have confirmed today the replies that we already have, but the few outstanding need to be with us by Tuesday 20th of next week please. Open Day – Thursday November 12th We will be having an Open Day on Thursday November 12th between 9.30am and 3.00pm in order that anyone, young and old, may see the school in action. Further details will follow after the holidays. PTA Discos KS1 Disco – Tuesday October 20th, 3.15pm – 4.30pm KS2 Disco – Wednesday October 21st, 6.00pm – 7.30pm Admission - £1.50. Refreshments will be on sale. Parent Governors We have vacancies on the Governing Body for two Parent Governors. Parents of children at the school are eligible to put themselves forward and, in the event of more than two people wishing to stand, the Governors have asked me to organise an election. If you are interested in helping the school to continue moving forward towards Outstanding, would you contact me on Monday or Tuesday next week and I will explain the process and and answer any questions or concerns that you have. Further information will come out next Thursday. Reminders No parents should be parking in the staff car park except those who have been to seek my permission for an extraordinary reason. There are still about 30 Student Update Forms that have not been returned. If you are one of the parents who have not returned the form, please do so as soon as possible. It is important that we have the right contact details for you. Please remember that pupils should only be drinking milk or water in school except at lunchtime when if they do bring a packed lunch then they can bring squash or fruit juice. Please do not send bottles of juice or squash in for break time. Paying by Cheque – Unless you are told to the contrary, please can you make any cheque payments for dinners, trips, after-school care, etc. payable to Lincolnshire County Council. And finally, details will follow next week about a “School Uniform Emporium” which may save some of you a little money.
