Miss Forsyth County and Miss Lake Lanier Scholarship Pageants
Contract Addendum
1. Miss Forsyth County and/or Miss Lake Lanier will be required to make appearances as
our titleholder. Some of these have already been scheduled, and others will be added
during your year of service. This obligation will include, but is not limited to the
following: competition in the Miss Georgia Pageant, participation in the Miss Georgia
Forum Weekend, A Salute to Our Troops, Forsyth Christmas Parade, Forsyth 4th of July
Parade, Memorial Day Parade in Gainesville, fundraising for Children’s Miracle Network
with Wal-Mart, Mayor and Governor appearance, our Little Miss Pageants, and speaking
engagements related to your platform. *This remains in effect for a full year of winning
pageant until successor is crowned.
2. All competition decisions (talent, wardrobe, mandatory paperwork deadlines etc.) will be
approved by our Board. These decisions will be finalized and all wardrobe ready by the
Send-Off Party, which is usually held 2 weeks before the Miss Georgia competition.
3. You will agree to work sessions to prepare you for competition in the Miss Georgia
Pageant. Rehearsal of talent selection, mock interviews, wardrobe consultations, stage
presence, fitness training, etc. will be included/scheduled on a regular basis by approved
consultants and may or may not be financially assisted by the board. Different board
members will handle these different phases of competition preparation, with the input of
the whole Board for final decisions and approval.
4. Prompt and regular communication between the titleholder and the Board is expected via
phone or e-mail. Winners will be given an individual email address for means of
communication during her year.
5. Scholarships shall be expended for tuition and related expenses, such as room and board
and other educational expenses as approved by the Miss Forsyth County/Miss Lake
Lanier Scholarship Board. Scholarships shall be distributed in two parts. After the Miss
Georgia competition in June, you may request no more than 50%. The other 50% will be
distributed at the end of your year of service after you have crowned your successor.
6. Scholarships awarded can include in-kind scholarship awards from colleges and
universities as well as CMN monies to fulfill the total amount of the award. The in-kind
scholarship and any cash scholarships shall not exceed the total amount awarded, in total,
and is at the discretion of the Board, how these scholarships shall be paid.
7. Requests for scholarships are processed upon receipt of statements from academic degree
granting colleges and universities. All statements and invoices must be accompanied by
a cover letter from the contestant.
8. A contestant that has won another preliminary previously must use the scholarship
awarded in that local before using the scholarship awarded by the Miss Forsyth
County/Miss Lake Lanier Scholarship Board.
Except as provided in paragraph 9, below, scholarships may be used only for current
educational expenses. Contestants may submit invoices for payment directly from the
provider of the educational service or may submit a receipted bill and request
reimbursement. All invoices and receipts must be covered through any other financial
aid source (other than student loans which meet the provisions of paragraph 9 below).
9. Scholarships may be used for outstanding student loan obligations provided the loan is
not in default and provided the student has satisfactorily completed the course work for
which the loan was obtained.
10. Contestant must submit documentation from the academic-granting college or university
or lender, which reflects that the Contestant is either the primary or secondary obligor or
the loan obligation, and that the loan is for educational expenses. Notice of payments due
should be sent to the Miss Forsyth County/Miss Lake Lanier Scholarship Board. If the
time required for processing the invoice extends beyond the due date, the Contestant may
submit proof of payment and request reimbursement.
11. Scholarships may be used for future educational expenses within the time limitation
specified below.
12. Contestant must begin use of her scholarship within one (1) year (two (2) years for Miss
Georgia) of the date of the award. If a Contestant has no activity in her scholarship
account during this period, the funds in her account will be forfeited.
13. Contestant who begins use of her scholarship within the time designated above will then
be required to show continuous activity in her scholarship endeavors up to a limit of one
year (1) years or two (2) years for Miss Georgia following the date of the award. If
there occurs a one (1) year period in which there is no activity in an account, then the
balance of that account will be forfeited. Similarly any balance remaining in a
Contestant’s account two (2) years following the date of the award will be forfeited.
14. All runner-up scholarship awards shall not be payable until 3 months after the pageant in
which the award was won. This may include preliminary awards, at the discretion of the
Pageant Board.
