Philanthropy Round Talking Points July 2015 Imagine growing up in silence. You have never heard your dog bark. Never heard your favorite song. You've never heard what your own name sounds like. You feel alone. Isolated. Withdrawn. This is where Delta Zeta steps in. Through our support of the Starkey Hearing Foundation, countless individuals, many of them children, have their hearing restored through hearing aids. The look on a child's face when he hears his mother say his name for the first time is something my sisters and I will never forget. Let's take a look at the work Delta Zeta is proud to be a part of. (show the new Delta Zeta Starkey Thank You video - 3:53) On behalf of Delta Zeta Sorority, we're excited to welcome you to our Philanthropy Round. My name is XXX, and my name is XXX. Our members and chapters do incredible things all in the name of philanthropy. Raising money, donating items, and sharing our time are some of the ways that our members truly live the words of the Delta Zeta Creed by giving graciously. Our biggest philanthropy effort on campus is our annual Hike for Hearing event, where we XXXX! You might have seen us out on campus back in XXXX; it is such a blast every year! And we were so grateful to see the SCHOOL NAME community supporting our philanthropic efforts and seeing people from our fellow Greek organizations and from campus clubs having fun and raising money for our cause. This year we raised over $XXXX for the Starkey Hearing Foundation, and we had over XXX participants! In fact, just this year, Delta Zeta chapters all across the United States have pledged to raise $5 million in 5 years for the Starkey Hearing Foundation, which you saw in the video! Just imagine the difference this will make in the lives of others across the globe and in our backyards! Hearing is a vehicle to change lives around the world, and we are proud of our partnership with the Starkey Hearing Foundation, which allows us to do just that! Delta Zeta also has a national service project – The Painted Turtle Camp – where children with serious medical conditions can enjoy just being a kid! Thanks in part to Delta Zeta, there is no billing department at the Painted Turtle camp - children and their families attend free of charge. Some Delta Zetas even choose to volunteer as camp counselors! Since our founding, Delta Zeta has been enriching lives and changing the world. We are thrilled to continue this work as a part of our commitment to philanthropy and look forward to having our newest members join us in this effort Today, we are going to share more with you about our philanthropy.
