All interviews with The Community Foundation YIP committee will be scheduled by July 15th.
Your acceptance into the program is determined by a variety of factors including the number of
slots available. If you are not contacted by July 15 th we do not have space available. Currently,
we have a one year waiting list.

What is Youth in Philanthropy?
What does Youth
in Philanthropy do?
The Youth in Philanthropy (YIP) is an
opportunity for high school age youth across
greater Fredericksburg to gain leadership
experience, meet area youth, voice opinions, and
make a difference by making grants to youthdirected projects that address community issues.
The YIP is designed to train young leaders to
make decisions about which youth projects in the
community will receive money!
Seniors are required to lead meetings and
organize the program each week.
Meet and work with other teens from the greater
Fredericksburg area.
• Reach out to area groups in the community to
encourage them to plan a project and apply for
money to carry it out.
• Review the proposed project ideas from youth-led
groups.
• Make decisions as a group about which projects
will receive money.
• Follow up with the youth led groups that were
funded to make sure that they spent the money
wisely.
• Gain important leadership experience and job
skills.
Youth in Philanthropy Member Job Description
We are looking for youth who have an interest in representing greater Fredericksburg youth. Ideal
candidates for the Youth in Philanthropy will be able to demonstrate the following:
• Commitment – Individuals that are able to make a commitment to the program and can attend weekly
meetings.
• Flexibility – Individuals who are open to working with a diverse group of youth and adults.
• Enthusiasm – Individuals that are willing to share their excitement, passion, insight, and expertise.

photographs or their use are hereby waived and released by me, my heirs or assigns. I
hereby release and discharge Photographer and his/her heirs, or legal representatives and
assigns from any and all claims and demands arising out of or in connection with the use of
the photographs, including without limitation any and all claims for libel or invasion of
privacy.
