Far East University Regulations of on Students’ Retaking Courses Approved on September 29, 1999 Verified on August 29, 2006 Article 1 These regulations are for students who have to retake required courses. Article 2 Students may retake the required courses in two ways, that is, during the normal school year or in the summer session. (1)Regular students retaking courses: After the school opens each semester, students may apply for retaking courses in the Office of Academic Affairs. If their application is approved, they can join the classes and retake the required courses. (2)The prolonged study students may return to school for retaking courses when approved by the Office of Academic Affairs every semester during registration. These students must: (i) First fill in the registration form in the Office of Academic Affairs (ii) Fill in their course list in the Curriculum Division, writing down each of the courses and classes to be retaken. The list should be approved by the Curriculum Division. (iii) The fee is collected in the Office of General Affairs (iv) After the registration procedure is finished, students may retake the required courses. Article 3 Students who retake courses in the regular classes are not charged. The prolonged study students are charged according to the following regulations: (1) If the retaken credit hours are less than 9.5 credit hours per week, only the fees of the credit hours are charged. (2) If retaken credit hours equal to or are greater than 10 credits hours per week, the same tuition should be paid. Article 4 The five year program students who retake the courses in the regular classes should take the credit hours as follows: (1) students in the first, second and third years should take less than 32 credit hours. Students in the fourth and fifth years should take less than 28 credit hours. Students in the third and fourth years in the four year program should take less than 25 credit hours. The credit hours for the prolonged study students in the five year program can be decided by the students, but the credit hours should not exceed 28. The credit hours for the prolonged study students in the four year program should not exceed 25. Article 5 The class times of courses retaken by students should not overlap each other. One course can not be taken in two classes. If so the students’ approval for retaking courses will be cancelled. Article 6 If the five year program students who retake courses in regular classes fail to pass more than one third of the total credits in one semester or a half of the total credits in two semesters, they should be expelled. Article 7 If the prolonged students in the five year program retaking 10 or above 10 credits fail to pass more than one third of the total credits in one semester or a half of the total credits in two semesters, they should be expelled. Article 8 If the five year program students retake courses but can not meet the course requirement regarding classes in their seventh year, the students should be expelled. Article 9 Students retaking courses are not allowed to be absent at will. If the hours of absence reach one third of the total class hours, they are forbidden to retake the courses any more. Article 10 These articles will be promulgated and executed after approval of the Academic Affairs Committee and the President. Any amendments to these articles must be similarly approved.
