Hello Southwest Parents,
Thank you to all our families and students who were able to join us for our Open House last
month. We had a wonderful turn out, a great way to start our school year. The teachers and
students have begun to delve into the reading, math, and science curriculums of their respective
grade levels. As I mentioned at open house, the teachers of Southwest have been working very
hard to provide the best possible education for your children.
I would like to inform you that as a school, Southwest will be asking students in grades K5 thru
5th to bring in ear-buds for listening while working on the laptops in the computer pod and lab.
We have had to replace many regular headphones at a high cost. The students will keep their
own ear-buds in their supply box or desk for their use only. This process will provide a
healthier environment, as opposed to students sharing headphones, as well as allow a cost
savings to the school.
Just a reminder, parent-teacher conferences are coming up soon. You will receive a letter
asking for a date and time that works for your personal schedule. We hope to have 100%
parent participation during the conferences! You will receive the letter the week of Sept. 21st,
and the conferences will be held October 8 & 9, 2015.
The SW parking lot is operating smoothly. This is wonderful! For the safety of all Southwest
students, staff and parents, please remember to inform your relatives of the SW parking
regulations, or anyone who may be picking up or dropping off your child.

There is no parking allowed along either side of the driveway. (Signs are posted).

10/14/15 - SW PFO Meeting - 3:45 in the Library
10/30/15 – Fall Festival for all grades
Please support the PFO fundraisers when possible. Proceeds will benefit SW students
attending educational field trips! Thank you.
