Dear RJR Families,
Whew…another round of exams has come to
an end and it’s time to start a new semester!
It’s hard to believe that our year is half over.
Thank you to our exam proctor volunteers!
Last week, we put out an “all-points bulletin” for proctor volunteers
and we are proud to say, as always, our dedicated volunteers
answered the call. Thanks to the following individuals who proctored
exams last week, often more than once, and several who came to the
rescue at the last minute! It takes a village!

Arts Express January Performance
The next Arts Express trip will be January 29th to see Tales of Hoffman
at the UNSCA. We will meet at the Arts building at 6:45 p.m. and
travel to the Stevens Center.
Tickets are included in your season pass, but I need to know if you will
attend in order to secure enough buses and seats. If you have not
purchased a season pass and want to attend, tickets are $5.00.
Please RSVP to Mrs. Morris.
Winter Dance DVDs
Winter Dance Concert DVDs are still available for $25. Please see Mrs.
Reece or Mrs. Hailey if you are interested in purchasing one. Make
checks payable to RJR Dance.
Auditions and Assessments
Please help spread the word about the audition/portfolio review
process for students who are either new to Reynolds in 2014 or who
are current RJR students who wish to take a course next year in a new
arts area but have never taken it at RJR.
Auditions and visual arts assessments are February 1st and 2nd,
depending on discipline. Complete information can be found on the
Arts Magnet page of the RJR website:
http://wsfcs.k12.nc.us/Page/81335.

Host Families Needed for 2014-2015
R.J. Reynolds is working with Academic Year in America (AYA) to bring
foreign exchange students to our high school. To support this effort,
we need host families open to adding a student (or even two) to their
family for one school year. AYA's program allows your family to have
direct input about the type of student you think would be the best fit
for your family, and even provides a local coordinator to help make the
process smooth and easy. If you are curious about the process or want
to discuss what the commitment entails, please contact Courtney
Fraley at courtneyfraley@gmail.com.
Yearbook Orders
Don't forget to remember! Order your yearbook today!
Visit YearbookOrderCenter.com to reserve your copy of the 2014
Black & Gold. When you pre-order your yearbook, you lock in the
lowest price of the year ($50) and ensure that a book will be waiting
for you in May. Some extra copies will be available for sale in May for
$60, but the last two years, we have sold out. Help us order the right
number of books by pre-ordering today!
The 2014 yearbook is bigger than ever (420 pages) and includes a 16page supplement for the first time ever! The supplement will cover
events such as prom, Follies, Class Day and graduation, and be
available in July at no extra charge for everyone who ordered a
yearbook. For questions about the yearbook, contact adviser Steve
Hanf at smhanf@wsfcs.k12.nc.us.
