FCHS Weekly Announcements 10/10/2011 – 10/14/2011 The homecoming dance is on Saturday, 10/15 from 8-11. Tickets go on sale Monday, 10/10 for $15 each. The first three hundred tickets are neon sunglasses, so buy yours early! This year’s theme: Cirque du Central. North Georgia College & State University will be conducting On Site Admissions in the FCHS Counseling office on November 7th. Appts will be available from 9:15am through 2:35pm. Please see your counselor to sign up and get the necessary paperwork prior to that date. On Wednesday, October 12th we will administer the PSAT to all sophomores and any freshmen, juniors, or home school students that paid the $14 registration fee. Yearbooks on sale until Oct.29th for $70! Senior Ads due by Oct. 30th! We are still accepting applications for the Mentor Program for High School students to go and mentor Middle School and Elementary Students. The program is designed for students to be able to make a positive impact through Mentoring. Students are able to earn community service hours for clubs/organizations. Students will have to fill out an application and be able to commit to at least 30 minutes per week. Applications are available in the Counseling office. FCHS Theatre Department is proud to present their production of Everyman in a special IF performance for the school on Oct 19. Tickets will be sold at lunch by the cast. The cost of the IF tickets will be a can of non-perishable food for Sacks of Love. Tickets for Wednesday and Thursday evenings will be available at the same time. Tickets for the evening performances will cost $5. Tickets are limited, so act quicky! The FUTURES program is through Georgia Tech. This day-long open house is designed to introduce high school sophomore and junior women to the opportunities available at Georgia Tech Additionally. Participation in this campus event is by invitation only. FCHS may nominate up to 6 women from our HS for the FUTURES program which will be held on Friday, November 18th. Students must be female, in the 10th or 11th grade, and have an "A" or high "B" average, and have some interest in a field of study at Georgia Tech. ARE YOU INTERESTED?? See Mrs. Santiago in the counseling office no later than October 30, 2011. Freshman and Juniors who registered to take the PSAT, please go pick up a handy study guide from Mrs. Robinson on West Campus. She has plenty to give out, just stop by and see her when convenient. DECA Members attending fall leadership need to stop by Mrs. Henderson’s room before the end of the day on Friday, Oct 14th DECA Members interested in competition, must attend a mandatory meeting before school at 7:30 or after school at 3:45 on October 18th Need to Wake UP? The Central Corner is now selling coffee and hot chocolate in the mornings. Active Best Buddies Club Members: The Special Olympics Halloween Party at Central Park is on Friday, Oct. 28. Please pick up a permission slip from room 1168 if you are interested in participating. All boys interested in playing Basketball…….conditioning week begins on October 17th- Monday , from 4:00- 5:30 at the New gym and on the track. Actual practice/tryouts for all ages begins on Oct. 24th, at 6pm in the new gym. You must have a physical on file. See Coach Barnes ASAP to fill out an info sheet. The Academic Team travels to Lambert on Monday, October 10th. The bus will meet in front of the New Gym immediately after school. The Key Club meets on Tuesday, October 18th at 7:45 a.m. to discuss October service projects. International Club – Copa Latina practice will be Tuesday and Wednesday from 4-5, meet on the softball field. Also, Homecoming Dance volunteers, remember to bring your ticket money.
