Activities Student Presentation Awards: In 2007 RDTSS continued the format for the student presentation awards implemented in 2006. Candidates for student awards made their presentations in a special session on Monday afternoon of the meeting. This allowed for judges of the student awards to interact with the students and judge them based on the actual presentation. Students appreciated the opportunity to interact with the judges and meet members of the specialty section. Feedback on this format continues to be positive. Winners of cash awards this year were as follows: Jing Chen, First place, $500; Joshua Robinson and Sheung Ng, Second place (tie), $300 each; Ronnie Yeager, Third place, $200. Student Travel Awards: $2000 was originally budgeted again this year to support student travel. The money was to be divided evenly among all students applying for the student presentation awards. Ultimately, the chapter gave $200 awards to each of the four scientific presentation awardees listed above and also the following additional five contestants: Josha Kwekel, Kembra Howdeshell, Shameema Banu, Sukhdeep Sahambi, and Vastal Mehta. Scientific Achievement Award: The awardee, Dr. Jim Schardein, spoke briefly at the specialty section meeting. The past president coordinated nominations solicited from members and chaired an ad hoc Achievement Award committee who made the final selection. The award can be presented for lifetime contribution to the field of reproductive and developmental toxicology, or for contribution of a particularly influential body of work. The recipient is awarded a plaque and is invited to speak at the annual RTDSS membership meeting at SOT. 2006-2007 RDTSS Annual Report Page 1 of 3 Award for 2006 Best Paper in Toxicological Sciences: A plaque was awarded to first author Michael Wade and certificates were awarded to all co-authors of: Michael G.
