Vision
EvolvingConnections supports leadership development for the greater good of communities and the
society at large.
Mission
EvolvingConnections is an organization of Evolve alumni and friends that facilitates the ongoing
leadership journeys of our members through social, networking, educational, and mentoring opportunities.
Our activities will support existing and future leadership projects as well as enhance the vitality and
sustainability of the Evolve program and future classes.

Misc reminders:
- Julie reactivated the EvolvingConnections Leadership Team button/menu on the VAN
website. All are encouraged to frequently visit the Evolve and EvolvingConnections
pages within the VAN website. Access to restricted areas is via our VAN ID and PW.
(Contact Julie for ID and PW questions / help.)
- Lisa Cook and Julie Roles have worked together to develop an Evolve and
EvolvingConnections presence on Facebook, and Connie Bowen (Evolve grad) has
agreed to maintain it.
New Business:
- Kathy Klietz, 2013 Evolve grad, has agreed to join the EvolvingConnections leadership
team. Mary Abbey, of the same class, could not attend today, but is considering joining
the leadership team and plans to attend the October meeting.
- Due to multiple conflicting commitments, Dick Kavaney has resigned from the
leadership team.
- Kathy Ahlers and Julie Roles have agreed to develop a brief survey to email to Evolve
grads to clarify interests and ideas grads may have as to ongoing involvement with
EvolvingConnections and VAN. TO DO: Leadership Team members are asked to
email pertinent ideas or suggested questions to Kathy Ahlers, who will relay them to
Julie.
Old business:
- October 22 EvolvingConnections gathering was discussed. It was decided to make the
focus social and networking, in a "happy hour" setting. Nicollet Island Inn (used by us in
the past) was discussed as an option. TO DO: Kathy Klietz volunteered to find a
venue, most likely in the St. Paul area.
- Next Book and Brew is pending.
Further Topics Discussed:
- The Inside Out workshops by VAN, partly functioning to introduce the Evolve course to
potential class participants, are generally well-attended.
- It was suggested that we begin early to consider options for a late April / early May
gathering (which has been a May Day / -eve fund raiser the past few years).
- Formats for future EvolvingConnections gatherings might include "meet-ups" or
"lightening rounds."
- Consider eventually including a student from the upcoming Evolve class on the
EvolvingConnections leadership team, most likely not before ~ April 2014.
- Encourage Evolve grads to volunteer to serve as mentors to students in the upcoming
class.
- Kathy Ahlers noted that EvolvingConnections monthly networking gatherings at Wilder
are scheduled for 9:30-11:30 on the second Fridays, room 2520, for Oct., Nov., Jan.
There is consideration of evening gatherings at some point.
