Sustainable Manufacturing Toolbox
Implement and monitor environmentally sustainable practices
Heavy Metal manufacturers task for Implement
strategies
Introduction
You have now presented your targets to Tim, the owner of Heavy Metal. He is
impressed with your work and wants you to run the implementation of the project to
reduce the amount of Colorbond used.
You have another meeting with the people at Heavy Metal. You seek their comments
on how to implement the project.
George says that before any changes to work processes are made, they need to be
cleared by him. He can ensure that they will cause the least amount of disruption to
the shop floor. Also he can make suggestions that could result in a better outcome.
Violet says that to make any changes to work processes you will need to seriously
think about a training program. Plant operators will need to become familiar with any
new process.
Quan says that templates for the current machines need to be trialled. Different
templates should be tested to find the best ones for the task.
Sharyn says that the employees using the new laser guided machines will require a
lot of training. These machines are different to the older machines.
Fred says that whatever option you choose that the staff need to be informed before
it happens. This will give them an opportunity to respond. Where he worked
previously changes were made without any consultation and the change was a
disaster.
