Decentralized
Wastewater Treatment Systems
HISTORY
Disposal of wastewater was always carried out according to the technical level of each individual society. At first it started only with draining
the wastewater outside from the dwellings. Together with increasing amount of wastewater and its concentration to one place the necessity for its
treatment appeared. During time efficient technologies for treatment of concentrated high amount of wastewater were invented and constructed.
When the sources and producers of wastewater are situated close together in one area then concentration of such wastewater together with polluted
rain water into one place with its subsequent treatment at this place is the best technical solution. The problems arise when the urbanization activity
continues in the way of constructing new large satellite dwellings surrounding tightly the original central cities. These results in deforming the former
water management conditions in each individual locality and the problems with treatment of this new wastewater are transferred elsewhere from the
place of its origin.
DECENTRALIZED SYSTEMS FROM TOPOLWATER
DECENTRALIZATION
In the above mentioned cases
advantages of decentralized wastewater
treatment systems become evident. Its
principles are based on draining the rain
water into the ground so that the
underground water table is maintained
and the wastewater should be treated and
used in environment for irrigation, drained
into ground or reused. Both the risk of
floods and the risk of surface waters
eutrophication is minimized. At the same
time a huge savings on investment costs
for large transporting sewerage systems
are gained – usually more than 25 %. It is
wise to use part of these savings for
technical improvement of local wastewater
treatment plants (WWTP). For functioning
decentralized system it is necessary to
produce number of small and local WWTP.
These have to meet such a technical level
so that the treatment efficiency is
comparable to central one and at the same
time these systems have to be fully
automated controlled from one central
dispatching and the producer of
wastewater has to be offered with the
same comfort as in central system.
Development and production of WWTP with mentioned characteristics is carried out in
TopolWater Company since more than ten years giving thus a
considerable jump in technical level compared with competitors.
Domestic WWTP TOPAS
This model represents industrially produced WWTPs with capacities 4
– 150 PE. Original treatment technology is protected by patent in EU
and all developed countries of the world. The plants are produced with
in-built automatically backwashed sand filter, eventually with
membrane microfiltration module and chemical phosphorous
precipitation meeting thus the most stringent treated water
requirements. The plants can be equipped with monitoring system and
with remote data transfer by GSM to one service centre.
MONOBLOK - T
Is local WWTP with capacities 150 – 700 PE. It is fully automated
WWTP with one SBR reactor technology.
FLEXIDIBLOK
TOPAS
This WWTP is designed for both smaller and bigger dwellings from 500
to 15 000 PE. It is again fully automated system with two SBR reactors in parallel.
The WWTP MONOBLOK - T and FLEXIDIBLOK optimize its operation automatically
according to real amount of wastewater inflow. All operational data are saved in memory of
the computer. TopolWater is currently operating and maintaining number of tens WWTP with
these technologies all over Czech Republic by remote data transfer.
Advantages are apparent:

Wastewater is treated at place of its origin without need for long transportation.

Labor costs for operation are minimized – one person at dispatching is able to control
number of WWTPs.

The risk of non-proper operation is minimized – the dispatcher is skilled technologist.

From the point of treated water quality can the WWTPs fulfil any requirements.
