NZQA registered unit standard 25639 version 3 Page 1 of 3 Title Develop resource procurement options for a significant electrical project and make recommendations Level 5 Purpose Credits 5 This unit standard is intended for use in the training and assessment of electricians beyond trade level who are required to analyse a specification for a substantial electrical project, develop resource procurement options, and make recommendations. People credited with this unit standard are, for a significant electrical project, able to: – develop resource procurement options; and – make recommendations for resource procurement. Significant electrical project – industrial, commercial, residential, or domestic installations involving a minimum of: lighting and power subcircuits, main switchboard, mains supply, and earthing system and that may require inspection by a registered electrical inspector. 4 All activities must comply with: any policies, procedures, and requirements of the organisations involved; the standards of relevant professional bodies; and any relevant legislative and/or regulatory requirements; and must be within the constraints normally applicable to a commercial environment. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Develop resource procurement options for a significant electrical project. Evidence requirements 1.1 Project resource requirements are established in accordance with the project specification, scope of works, and industry practice. Range 1.2 Procurement options are recorded in accordance with industry practice. Range 1.3 suppliers, components, component quality, delivery, management, manufactured items, materials, processes, resources, services, service level agreement, delivery timeframes. to include but is not limited to – project specification, bill of materials, quotations, price, suppliers, availability. Options are selected and recorded in accordance with the requirements of the project specification and in accordance with industry practice. Outcome 2 Make recommendations for resource procurement for a significant electrical project. Evidence requirements 2.1 Options are prioritised in accordance with the specification in terms of component quality, availability, delivery timeframes, price, and suppliers. 2.2 Results are verified as correct and meet project specification requirements, and are recorded in accordance with the specification. 2.3 Recommendations giving three options are presented to the customer in accordance with project specification and industry practice.
