In order to review and prepare for both Geometry and the October PSAT, you need to work through the book, Algebra Success in 20 Minutes a Day, 3rd Edition, by Barbara Jund. This workbook explains all the topics listed above with the exception of proportions (If you need to update your knowledge of proportions we suggest the web site http://www.math.com/school/subject1/lessons/S1U2L2GL.html). There is a pre-test, post-test and an online practice program as well. It is available through the UC bookstore and at www.learnatest.com. (ISBN# 978-1-57685-607-9) The book provides a comprehensive review of the Algebra skill on the PSAT and certain chapters are necessary for success in Geometry. Keep all of your work in one well organized marble notebook. Copy each assigned problem into the notebook before attempting to solve it. 2. Your summer assignment will be collected the first day of class and will count as a quiz grade. Each problem is worth two points. To earn the full two points you must show all work, use the proper method and have the correct answer. Partial credit will be awarded, however, NO points will be awarded if there is no work shown. 3. After a brief review, there will be a test on this material sometime during the first two weeks of school. 4. There will also be algebra quizzes throughout the year as each topic arises. ** If you can not find the 3rd edition of Algebra Success in 20 Minutes you may use the 4th edition. Page corrections for the 4th edition will be posted on the school website.
