New Bible Versions say the opposite of the KJV
Example #1 – Psalm 10:4
KJV “4 The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: … 5 His ways are always
grievous;”
NIV “4 In his pride the wicked does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God. 5 His ways are
always prosperous;”
NKJV “His ways are always prospering”
One Bible is saying the ways of the wicked are always grievous while others are saying the ways of the
wicked are always prospering. The words “grievous” and “prosperous” are words which are almost
opposite in meaning. If the newer versions are just updating the archaic words of the KJV why do they take
words and replace them with words which are quite the opposite. God told Adam in the garden, “thou
shalt surely die” but the devil said, “Ye shall not surely die.” You have to determine who is speaking God’s
words and who is denying God’s words.
Example #2 – Ecclesiastes 8:10
KJV “And so I saw the wicked buried, who had come and gone from the place of the holy, and they were
forgotten in the city”
NIV / TNIV “Then too, I saw the wicked buried—those who used to come and go from the holy place and
receive praise.”
It is interesting to note that the NIV has a footnote which reads: “most Hebrew manuscripts and are
forgotten”. This means that most of the Hebrew manuscripts agree with the KJV but the NIV translators
changed these words to mean almost the exact opposite anyway. There is a big difference between
“receiving praise” and “being forgotten”. Remember the devil told Eve “Ye shall not surely die” when God
said, “thou shalt surely die.”
Example #3 – Isaiah 9:3
KJV "Thou hast multiplied the nation, and not increased the joy…”
NIV / TNIV “You have enlarged the nation and increased their joy;” (no footnote).
NKJV “increased its joy…”
NASB “increased their gladness…” (footnote says “another reading is not increase”)
Although the NASB says that a possible reading is “not increase” they take out the “not” which changes the
meaning completely. Other new versions remove “not” without mentioning that it is legitimate to keep it
there as the KJV does. It looks like someone is denying the Word of God.
Example #4 – Colossians 2:18
KJV 1611 "… and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen …”
Wycliffe 1382 “tho thingis whiche he hath not seyn,”
NIV “…and the worship of angels disqualify you for the prize. Such a person goes into great detail about
what he has seen, “
TNIV “…and the worship of angels disqualify you. Such people also go into great detail about what they
have seen, “
NASB “taking his stand on visions he has seen.”
Wycliffe’s translation, which dates back to 1382, agrees with the KJV but the modern versions say just the
opposite.
Example #5 – Hosea 10:1
KJV "Israel is an empty vine, he bringeth forth fruit unto himself…”
NIV “Israel was a spreading vine;”
NASB “Israel is a 2luxuriant vine…” (footnote says “2 Or, degenerate”)
An empty vine is quite different from a luxuriant vine but closer to the NASB footnote of degenerate vine.
Are you confused? Confusion doesn’t come from God.
1 Cor 14:33 "For God is not the author of confusion…”
Confusion comes from the devil. All these Bible versions which contradict each other bring confusion which
does NOT build ones faith. Even the footnotes of a Bible translation contradict the regular text of the same
Bible translation. That is confusing.
Example #6 – Hosea 11:12
KJV "… but Judah yet ruleth with God, and is faithful with the saints."
NIV / TNIV “And Judah is unruly against God, even against the faithful Holy One.”
WEB “Judah still strays from God, And is unfaithful to the Holy One.”
Each of these Bible versions says something quite different – in fact they are very different. But then the
devil told Eve, “Ye shall not surely die” when God indeed said, “thou shalt surely die.” When you see one
Bible version saying the opposite of another, you know the devil has been busy at work.
Consider…
Will our children be able to stand for the truth in a world that is denying the truth?
Are you teaching your children that it is a grievous sin to deny what God has said in the Bible?
Be sure you pass on the fact that
1. God’s word is truth and should NOT be denied.
2. God should NOT be doubted.
