Using Shiraz for Xfig
Open Exceed from Windows
Select Shiraz from the list of servers in the XDMCP display manager chooser
Login to Shiraz (using your Unix username and password)
You are now in Unix with all your Windows applications in the background
Open Xfig from the Shiraz main menu (programs, graphics, Xfig)
Work on your figures as you would normally…
Don’t logout of Shiraz!
Selecting a Windows application – e.g. FTP whilst keeping Shiraz open:
Simply press the Windows start menu key situated between the CTRL and ALT key
or to the right of the ALT GR key.
This will display your regular Windows programs menu (simply select your
application from programs)
And/or…
You will notice that anything you have opened in Windows will be minimised along
the windows toolbar at the bottom of the screen – simply select the program you want
to use from the toolbar or from the start menu applications.
Also you can toggle through any opened Windows applications by using the ALT and
TAB key. Press and hold the ALT key then use TAB to move through the
applications.
