Present interests are in Hydrogen storage materials and Plasma physics.
Well versed in Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy. Obtained and analyzed spectra of several
elements with & without externally applied magnetic fields.
Designed and supervised construction of a 3m-spectrograph, a high temperature (~2000 oC)
oven for magneto-optical absorption spectroscopy.
Built experimental setup of magneto-optical absorption spectroscopy on a beam line at the
synchrotron radiation facility of the Bonn University, in the VUV region.
Experienced in building of DWDM mux, demux and add-drop (fiber-optical) devices.
Taught different courses of physics, wrote instructional manuals to help guide students in
physics teaching labs.
Experienced in FORTRAN, Visual Basic, Java, HTML and MS Access.

Developed a Web Content Management System using Java Server Pages. Through this

will be able to add or delete users, authorize passwords, add or delete web pages and their
contents.

Worked on “Magneto-Optical Absorption Spectroscopy using Synchrotron Radiation”,
research project.
Designed and supervised construction of a High Temperature Oven for magneto-optical
absorption spectroscopy. This compact oven could fit into the 6 inches bore of the magnet
producing ~2000 C, with the room temperature on the outer surface.
Built experimental set up of the magneto-optical absorption spectroscopy on a beam line at
the synchrotron radiation facility of the Bonn University, in the VUV region.
Worked with highly polarized light of the synchrotron, vacuum spectrographs, diffraction
gratings, lenses and other optical components, different types of vacuum pumps, high
temperature furnaces and cryogenic apparatus.
Worked with a magnetic field of 6 Tesla from the super conducting solenoid at liquid
helium temperature.
Obtained spectra in presence of externally applied magnetic fields on spectrographic plates,
developed plates, obtained densitometer traces and analyzed the spectra.
Using Faraday effect (rotation of plane of polarization of radiation in presence of externally
applied magnetic fields) calculated oscillator strengths of excitation levels in different
elements.
Published research papers in well-known journals and presented my research work in
different international conferences.
1987 -- 1988:


Was involved in the research activities of the Atomic and Molecular Physics (Laser
Spectroscopy) Laboratory.
Obtained absorption spectra of different elements using 3m spectrograph, equipped with
5000 lines/mm grating and conventional light sources as background source of continuum.
Helped and trained students in obtaining and analyzing absorption spectra.
Continued analysis of magneto-optical absorption spectra obtained from Synchrotron
radiation facilities of Bonn University, Germany.
Responsibilities included demonstration, evaluation and help/guide M.Sc. students at the
Dept. of Physics in the physics teaching laboratories.
