INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT 2 Personal Physical Assessment and Ergonomics Worksheet DUE DATE: at beginning of lecture Monday April 13th 1) Submit your Questionnaire and completed data sheets #4 to #8 (Submit your data. It is OK if some are blank because you were not measured at that station) (20 marks) 2) Summary of % Body Fat Estimations: Complete and submit the Summary of % Body Fat Estimations table (next page of this document). (20 marks) 3) Anthropometric and Performance Data Profile: Complete and submit your profile (3rd page of this document. No interpretation necessary. (20 marks) 4) Ergonomic Worksheet: In the lab in week 13 you will be provided with an ergonomic worksheet that will be completed and finished during the lab session. This should be handed in as the 4th part of your Individual Assignment 2. (40 marks) TOTAL MARKS = 100 BPK 303 - Kinanthropometry - Dr. Richard Ward Spring 2015 BPK 303: Individual Assignment 2 (Submit Individually) Name:_____________________________________ Subj ID#:_________ Sex:_________ Summary of % Body Fat Estimations Prediction Method % Fat Bioimpedance Device Sloan Omron Body Composition Monitor (Whole Body) Yuhasz Omron hand held Monitor (Arms) Peterson Intelliscale Body Fat Monitor (Legs) % Fat Equations for the Anthropometric Prediction of % Body Fat SLOAN: This is one of the earliest well accepted set of equations. The equations predict body density and then the Siri equation (1962) is used to transform this density to a percentage of body fat. These equations were developed on samples of university students from the U.S.A. FEMALES 17-25 years of age Density = 1.0764 - 0.00081(Iliac Crest Skinfold) - 0.00088(Triceps Skinfold) SEE = 0.0082 gm/ml MALES 18-26 years of age Density = 1.1043 - 0.001327(Front Thigh Skinfold) - 0.001310(Subscapular Skinfold) SEE = 0.0082 gm/ml Siri equation (1962): %fat = ((4.95/Density) - 4.5) x 100 YUHASZ: These equations derived on Canadian university males and females use the sum of six skinfold measurements (S6SF). Where S6SF = Sum of Triceps, Subscapular, Supraspinale, Abdominal, Front Thigh and Medial Calf skinfolds. These sex specific equations predict percentage body fat without the intermediary of body density. MALES: % fat = 0.1051(S6SF) + 2.585 FEMALES: % fat = 0.1548(S6SF) + 3.580 PETERSON: These equations were derived from male and female subject enrolled in the Fels Longitudinal Study between 1929 and the present, typically soon after their birth. Most of the Fels participants are white, resided in southwestern Ohio at the time of their enrolment. The subjects used in the production of these equations raged from 18 to 55 years of age. Where height is in cm, and sum4 is the sum of the triceps, subscapular, supraspinale, and thigh skinfold thicknesses and BMI is Weight / Height2 MALES: %fat = 20.94878 + 0.1166age - 0.11666height + 0.42696sum4 - 0.00159 sum42 FEMALES: %fat = 22.18945 + 0.06368age + 0.60404BMI - 0.14520 height + 0.30919sum4 - 0.00099562 sum42 BPK 303 - Kinanthropometry - Dr. Richard Ward Spring 2015 Anthropometric and Performance Data Profile Record the median or maximum values from your data in the boxes provided. Circle the percentile closest to your value on the sex appropriate chart to produce a profile from these various measures. Some of you may not have been measured for all components. Just leave these blank.
