Autograph Activity The Vector equation of a Straight Line Introducing the Vector Equation of a Straight Line – you will need to play around with adding vectors and vector multiples before this lesson! Get one student to choose point A and discuss the vector to walk there from the origin. Ask a second student to continue the journey – discuss the vector AB and add it to Autograph Ask more students to add points along the road AB extended (on Autograph select the point A then holding shift key select the vector AB then right click to allow multiply vector – add a few with different scale factors. More students can be involved in setting up the vector “road” PQ (see below) Now discussion can take place about where these roads cross – this may result in a session on Simultaneous Linear Equations first but ultimately it can lead to a clear understanding of the vector equation of a straight line. © Alan Catley TyneMath iCT 06/02/16 687272467
