Application Period: March 28, 2014- Thursday, April 10, 2014 POSITION TITLE: RAMDITION Legacy Leader DEPARTMENT: University College and Lifelong Learning SUMMARY OF THE POSITION: ORIENTATION (RAMDITION) Legacy Leaders are a select group of students who will draw upon their knowledge of the University, personal experiences, and proven success strategies to assist new students during their adjustment to college. Legacy Leaders assume many responsibilities including helping in preparation of all orientation sessions (RAMDITION, commuter, nontraditional student, transfer, readmit, second degree, and graduate) and activities associated with The Student Experience. They assist with the academic, personal, and social orientation of first-year students to ensure a smooth transition into university life during the first year of enrollment. RATIONALE: Student leaders representing the University Student leaders representing the University College and Lifelong Learning Student leaders representing self JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Serve as an official host or hostess for a group of first-year students during RAMDITION Week. Serve as a leader and active participant during RAMDITION Week. Facilitate small group discussions and interactions during RAMDITION Week . Teach WSSU traditions and provide student services information. Provide administrative support for RAMDITION Week, including the preparation of packets beforehand. Work with teams to support all aspects of the program Attend all training sessions, activities and meetings. Participate in the 2014-2015 Legacy Leader Leadership Program Serve as a resource person, representative, and role model for new students. Promote RAM spirit with a positive attitude and outlook. Serve as a Legacy Leader mentor all year (2014-2015) to group assigned during RAMDITION. Serve as an usher during 2014 and 2015 graduation ceremonies Serves as hosts/hostesses during The Student Experience programs and activities (including but not limited to majors day, Nontraditional Student Convocation, major ceremonies, woman’s history, etc. Serves as leaders during all orientation programs (RAMDITION, commuter, nontraditional, transfer, readmit, second degree, and graduate) JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Support the goals of The Student Experience Office Enrolled as a full-time student with at least 15 earned credit hours. Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50. Must be available for ALL Student Experience Student Leader Training sessions during May 2014, August 2014, and fall semester. Must be available to work ALL programs including RAMDITION, Mentoring Programs, The Student Experience Programs Including but not limited to (RAMDITION, commuter, nontraditional, transfer, readmit, second degree, and graduate) Ability to communicate with incoming students throughout the summer to personally welcome them to WSSU via email, phone calls, etc. Must be in good academic and disciplinary standing. Excellent leadership potential and/or experience. Demonstrated record of responsibility, willingness to assist others, and flexibility. Excellent communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate General Education Curriculum. Ability to work productively with faculty, staff and students and follow through on tasks. Ability to work independently, to be creative, and to be organized. Must agree to support the following programs: RAMDITION, commuter, nontraditional, transfer, readmit, second degree, and graduate orientations Must submit daily reports during all orientation programs and bi-weekly during both fall and spring semester for mentees. Must be enrolled for the Spring 2014 semester and the fall 2014 semester and have registered 12 hours at WSSU for the fall 2014 before May 2014 May have an outside job as long as it does not interfere with the fulfillment of the requirements of the Legacy Leader position.
