Seat Work
1. Students will be given a number and how many numbers in the
addition problem. For example: The sum total is 16 – use 3
different number that add up to 16 such as 5 + 8 + 3 = 16 or 6 +
9 + 1 = 16. Cover those numbers on your desk mat to solve the
problem.
Movement Connection
1. Partner each stand beside a Phone Mat.
2. Teacher calls out the sum total and the number of body parts to balance on to add up to
the sum.
3. 1st partner starts it off by balancing on one foot on a number
4. 2nd partner balances on a body part on a different number
5. Balancing using different numbers and body parts continues until the correct number of
body parts and numbers add up to the sum.
For example – the sum is 24 and you must use 5 body parts between you and your
partner
