Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies 1. Educational portfolio structure since January 2010 Associate Dean (Education): QA and strategic positioning of teaching programs – reports to the Dean. Three Sub Deans reporting to the Associate Dean (Education): Sub Dean Learning and Teaching Sub Dean Undergraduate Sub Dean Postgraduate Coursework 2. Support for the Sub Dean Learning and Teaching - supported by the faculty secretary - chairs the Faculty L&T Committee consisting of representatives from the 5 Schools comprising the Faculty (L&T School Directors), 2 ex officio and the Associate Dean Education 3. Sub Dean Learning and Teaching - PAS The Sub Dean reports to the Associate Dean (Education). The role is to be performed in such a way as to make an effective contribution to the learning and teaching within the Faculty in accordance with the University’s and Faculty’s strategic plans. The needs and use of e-learning need to be embraced. The key responsibilities of the Sub Dean shall include: Membership of the following Committees: The Academic Board Learning and Teaching Committee (Standards and Policy) The Faculty Board Chair and Convenor of the Faculty Learning and Teaching Committee ITL Learning and Teaching Committee Take responsibility for the development, management and implementation of the Faculty Learning and Teaching Plan and other relevant Faculty policy with regard to Leaning and Teaching. Keep up-to-date with advancements in learning and teaching approaches and policy. Promote good practice in relation to Learning and Teaching in the Faculty. Review Faculty Unit of Study Evaluations (USEs), CEQ and SCEQ data and recommend to Associate Dean (Education) actions in relation to poor performance Chair meetings where Faculty and University L&T projects to be funded are reviewed. Liaise with and be involved in benchmarking activities with other Universities and relevant organisations in relation to Learning and Teaching issues. Co-ordinate tutor training. It is expected that the Sub Dean will be available to represent the ADE, as required. 1
