Eramus Mundus Scholarship (European Union)
Target group: Master's degree, Bachelor's degree
Purpose: Study, Research
Eligible candidate: The selection criteria are set by
the consortium which offers the masters. Each
consortium may appoint a small number of scholars
for a scholarship. Candidates should apply directly to
the Erasmus Mundus programma.

Huygens Scholarship Program
Scholarships for excellent students
Target group: M Master's degree, Bachelor's
degree, PhD degree
Purpose: Study, Research
Eligible candidate: The Programme is aimed at
excellent students who want to
come to the Netherlands in the final phase of their
bachelor’s studies
or during their master’s studies.
Value and purpose: a monthly allowance of € 900
Euros (this includes healthcare insurance, visa fees,

Purpose: Study
Eligible candidate: Students from P.R. China, Hong
Kong, Japan, Russia, Singapore, Taiwan, Vietnam.
These scholarships are only available to (new)
applicants and not for already enrolled students at
Leiden University .
Value and purpose of grant : The amount of the
scholarships varies from substantial to modest. The
scholarship takes the form of a reduced tuition fee on
the basis of merit and demonstrated need

L'Oréal - UNESCO for Women in Science
Scholarship
Target group: PhD degree
Purpose: Study, Research
Field of study: Engineering, Medical and health
sciences, Natural sciences, Environmental Science
Eligible candidate: high-quality female researcher.
Note that application has to be done by the National
Commission for UNESCO of applicants country of
origin.
Value and period: $40.000; two years
Closing date: May, 31 is deadline for preliminary
applications. June, 30 is deadline for application by
the Netherlands National Commission for UNESCO at
UNESCO headquarters in Paris.

Netherlands Fellowship Program (NFP)
Target group: Master's degree, Bachelor's degree
Purpose: All
Eligible candidate: Candidates are eligible for a
fellowship only if they have been admitted to their
chosen master’s degree programme and meet all the
criteria. Candidates can only apply for a fellowship for
one programme per fellowship application deadline.
Being admitted to more than one programme with the
same fellowship application deadline means that
candidates will have to select one programme before
applying for a fellowship.
Value and purpose: The fellowships, which are
the cost of tuition fees, international travel costs )

Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship
Program
knowledge sharing and capacity building in the
developing world.
Target group: Master's degree, Bachelor's degree,
PhD degree
Purpose: Study
Eligible candidate: mid-career professionals from
the World Bank member countries, eligible to borrow;
Between the ages of 25 and 45; At least 2, preferably
4 to 5, years of recent full-time professional work
experience; University degree; Good health, good
character
Grant period: 1 year; provided that the academic
program is longer than one year, it may be renewed
for a second consecutive year or a portion thereof

Utrecht Excellence Scholarships 2008-2009
Eligible candidates: outstanding prospective
students from non-EEA countries applying for a
Prestige Master’s programme, the bachelor’s
programme in Economics or University College

Aim of the programme
The Utrecht Excellence Scholarship offers a number
of outstanding prospective non-EEA students the
opportunity to pursue a degree in a selected number
of fields at Utrecht University:
- Liberal Arts & Sciences at University College
Utrecht
- Bachelor programme in Economics
- A Prestige Master’s Programme (see below).
The scholarship programme is highly selective. Only
candidates showing the highest achievement and
promise may receive a scholarship.

University of Groningen PhD Fellowship
Target group: PhD degree
Purpose: Research
Eligible candidate: junior Ph.D. researchers who
conduct Ph.D. research within the scope of a
cooperation between the University of Groningen and
an institution in a developing country.
Value and purpose:
The journeys to the Netherlands and back home are
included in the scholarship grant. Travel costs, travel
insurance, airport taxes, living allowance, settling
allowance etc
Grant period: maximum of six months each year
within a four-year period.

WOTRO Integrated Programmes
Target group: Master's degree, PhD degree
Purpose: Research
Eligible candidate: Applications must be formally
submitted by a senior researcher with a PhD degree,
working at a Dutch university, a NWO or Royal
Netherlands Academy institute or at an international
institute for higher education based in the
Netherlands. A senior researcher with a PhD degree
from the partner institute in the developing country
should be co-applicant and member of the
coordinating team.
Grant Value: max. € 7,000 for research and
personnel costs, as well as costs for joint programme
activities.
