Applications are invited for admission in August 2004 to Full-Time
undergraduate degree programmes on the three Campuses of the University of
the West Indies. Applications are open to all persons who are recognized as
having satisfied the normal matriculation requirements for entry to the
University of the West Indies as well as such Faculty requirements as may
obtain.

NB: Candidates who will be sitting examinations between January and
June 2004 to qualify for admission may also submit applications.
Preference will be given to Applicants who are fully qualified by March 19,
2004, that is, applicants holding two or more 'A' Level subject passes at the
required grade (or their equivalent). Applicants claiming equivalence will be
referred to the University's Matriculation authorities.

Registrar/Senior Assistant Registrar, Student Affairs (Admissions) at Cave Hill,
Mona, and St. Augustine, and the Resident Representatives/University
Representatives in Non-campus countries. Forms are also available in Jamaica
from the School of Continuing Studies Centre at Lloyd's Arcade, 26 St. James
Street, P.O. Box 969, Montego Bay.

HOUSING ON CAMPUS
NB: GRADUATES OF UWI NEED NOT REQUEST TRANSCRIPTS
APPLICANTS ARE REMINDED THAT THEY MUST NOT APPLY TO
MORE THAN ONE FACULTY AT THE SAME TIME, EVEN IF
DIFFERENT CAMPUSES ARE INVOLVED. One Application ONLY
should be submitted. Entry to the Faculty of second choice will be subject to
the availability of places.
Prospective students are asked to note that the Mona Campus of the University
cannot guarantee accommodation. An Offer of Entry to a Faculty on that
campus gives no assurance of accommodation in a Hall of Residence.
Prospective students at the St. Augustine and Cave Hill Campuses need to apply
separately for a room in a Hall of Residence. The relevant form will be sent if a
place is offered.
DEADLINE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS
ENGLISH PROFICIENCY TEST
Application Forms should be completed and returned to Student Affairs
(Admissions Section) at the Campus to which admission is being sought. The
closing date for receipt of applications at the three Campuses of the University
is JANUARY 16, 2004 for Full-Time. Applicants are advised to submit their
applications without delay.
NB: Deadline for Part-Time at St. Augustine Campus is February 27, 2004.
RE-ADMISSIONS/RE-ENTRY
Persons applying for re-admission to degree programmes should submit the
normal application forms by the deadlines stated submitting documentary
evidence of ADDITIONAL qualifications (if applicable).
APPLICATION FEES
Application fees are non-refundable and are as follows:
St. Augustine Campus TT$45.00 or US$30.00 (for foreign applicants only);
Cave Hill Campus Bds $15.00, Mona Campus J$350.00, or in the currency of
the country as indicated. Three (3) Passport size photographs MUST
accompany application forms for entry to the Mona Campus.

(i) Applications will not be considered if there is any indication that the
accompanying papers or certificates have been altered in any way.
A PASS IN THE UWI MONA ENGLISH PROFICIENCY TEST WILL

Academic Requirements

Subjects at CXC General/GCE O Level
Five (5) Subjects
Compulsory – English Language, Mathematics, Biology,
Chemistry and Physics.
2.

Subjects at the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination
(CAPE) or GCE Advanced Level or equivalent
Three 2-unit CAPE or GCE Advanced Level passes which must
include Chemistry and Biology.
The third pass can be in Mathematics or Physics or in any other
recognized subject (History, Foreign Language, English Literature,
Accounting, Geography…) provided the requirements in 1 have
been satisfied.
PRELIMINARY LEVEL COURSES:
Non-Academic Requirements
All candidates are required to submit a short (300 words or less) autobiographic sketch outlining the reasons for their career choice.

Applicants to the Physical Therapy programme are further required to:

Be 18 years old at the time of admission.
2.
Complete sixty (60) voluntary hours in a Physical Therapy
department at the time of admission to the programme. At least
thirty (30) of these hours must be spent in an acute general
hospital. Candidates must make their own arrangements for
doing voluntary hours.
Majors may be taken in conjunction with other subjects including
Economics, Education, Law, Management Studies, Political Science and
Theology.
