Provided by Zahir Fund/Student Initiatives Amount $1,000 will be awarded to 1 student Application: Contact Student Initiatives or go to http://financialaid.utah.edu/scholarships/search/details.php?id =6776 page 15 The First Scholars Scholarship Eligibility and Selection Criteria Students selected to receive the First Scholars Scholarship must: 1) Be a high school senior that has applied and been admitted to the U of U for the 2012-2013 academic year which includes submitting a U of U Admissions application with appropriate fees, high school transcripts, and ACT or SAT scores; 2) Complete the Student Strengths Inventory (instructions will be given once scholarship application has been received); 3) Complete the FAFSA/Free Application for Federal Student Aid online at www.fafsa.ed.gov/ by Mar. 1st; 4) Agree to attend an overnight New Student Orientation which will be identified in the award letter; 5) Agree to enroll in a designated UC 1010 course for First Scholar Scholarship recipients during the fall 2011 semester; 6) Agree to enroll in 1 of 4 sections of ETHNC 2500 during fall 2011 and spring 2012; 7) Be a U.S. citizen or qualified non-citizen as defined by federal law; 8) Be eligible for in-state tuition; 9) Live on-campus for first year as U of U student and live outside of the family home the following three academic years; 10) And submit scholarship application and all material by Feb. 1, 2013. This scholarship also includes room and board on campus for the recipients first year and requires that the scholarship recipient live on campus for the 2011-2012 academic year and outside of the family home the following three academic years in order to renew the scholarship.
