Baber Graduate Student Fine Arts Fellowship Grant Nomination Form
One scholarship to be awarded to a College of Fine Arts incoming graduate student
Edited from the Baber Trust agreement:
The purpose of the grant program is to nurture the highest possible quality of excellence
in individual performers in the fine arts, through emphasis upon the studio approach,
rather than training for teaching. This does not preclude recipients from engaging in
music, theatre, or art education work, but the main thrust of the grant is to help develop
top-notch individual performers, and to enhance Illinois State University’s prestige as a
place where the very finest musicians and artists study and perform. The College is
expected to actively seek out and attract to campus an outstanding performer each year in
music, art, and/or theatre. Recipients should be persons who obviously have the potential
to become well-recognized professional career performers.
The Dean of the College of Fine Arts, through the School Directors and faculty of the
College, shall determine each year which graduate student applicant shall receive the
Baber Fellowship Grants. The FY14 grant will be $2,400.
