Use Article 9 in life, don’t just defend it
A9A groups from Tokyo and seven prefectures in Kanto region held an exchange meeting in
Tokyo on April 4th , attended by 450 participants.
In the morning’s plenary session, the
principal of Seisoku High School, which
provided the venue, addressed the meeting,
Gumma network reported on their
newsletter that is sent to the 80 A9A groups
within the network. In the afternoon,
followed by participants reports on their
daily activities. The Kanagawa network of
A9A groups reported that several exchange
meetings have been held every year, and the
among 11 SIG sessions, a youth session and
a worksite session were held and
participants exchanged information about
their creative activities.
Prefectural-level exchange meetings in Okinawa and Miyagi
 On March 12th the Okinawa A9A
network held their 3rd exchange meeting
in Naha. Network Secretary-general,
lawyer Kato Hiroshi, gave a lecture on
Sendai. Network Secretary Kawai
Kazushige
reported
on
political
situations concerning the Constitution.
His report was followed by daily activity
“Perspectives of the Defend Article 9
reports by one of the A9A groups. Their
report included a story of an ordinary
housewife who was quoted as saying “I
felt happy to stand on the ‘peace side.’”

sponsored their 7th exchange meeting in

In memory of the late A9A founder InoueHisashi
A9A secretariat plans to give a special lecture in honor of Inoue in order to follow his
earnest desire of defending Article 9. The details of the lecture are given below.
1. Date: June 19th (Sat.) 1:30 p.m.
2. Venue: Hibiya Public Hall in Tokyo
3. Theme: 50th anniversary of the Japan-U.S. Security Treaty and Article 9
4. Lecturers: Oe Kenzaburo (writer), Okudaira Yasuhiro (Constitution researcher),
Sawachi Hisae (writer), Tsurumi Shunsuke (philosopher)
5. Admission: 1,000 yen

Obituary
One of the A9A founders and playwright Inoue Hisashi passed away of lung
cancer on April 9th . Since A9A’s founding in June 2004, he continued to dispatch
a series of strong messages in peace and defense of Article 9, and aggressively
acted as lecturer of A9A. We extend our heartfelt condolence over his death.
