Barb Aasen is the Partner-in-Charge of the Bismarck, North Dakota office of Eide Bailly
LLP. Barb is also the Regional Partner-in-Charge for Eide Bailly LLP’s Region I. Barb in
one of the Co-Chairs and founding member of the First Focus Committee, a committee to
enhance the retention and development of women leaders at Eide Bailly. As a member of
the leadership team for Eide Bailly, Barb has worked to advance women’s issues within
the Firm. Barb is also a mentor and coach for potential female and male leaders within the
Firm.
Barb received a Bachelor of Accountancy for the University of North Dakota. She lives
in Bismarck with her husband, Keith, and two children, Krissy (18) and Zach (14).
Michael Maksymiw is a Tax Manager at Carney, Roy and Gerrol, P.C. in Rocky Hill,
Connecticut and works primarily on privately held commercial business accounts.
Michael recently attended the 2010 AICPA Leadership Academy with twenty-nine other
young CPAs from around the country where they expanded their leadership competencies
and were empowered to become leaders within their organizations, communities and the
CPA profession. Michael has taught as an adjunct professor at the University of
Connecticut since 2008 and he has been a long-time volunteer on the Executive
Committee at the Travelers Championship, a PGA TOUR event held annually in
Connecticut. Michael brings his enthusiasm for accounting and his desire to ensure a
successful succession plan for the profession to the Committee.
Michael graduated summa cum laude from Bryant College with a Bachelor of Science in
Business Administration in Accounting and received his Masters in Accounting with a
specialization in Tax, from the University of Connecticut. He lives in Plainville,
Connecticut with his wife, Jennifer, and their two children, Sofia (5) and Julia (4).
Todd Mitchell is an advisor to CEOs on strategic issues and initiatives, including the
implementation of women’s initiatives. As the managing shareholder of regional CPA
firm Elliott Davis, LLC, he successfully championed and implemented their women’s
initiative that helped propel the firm to being selected a top five employer of choice in
South Carolina for the past four years. In addition, Todd co-created and co-instructs
(with Mary Bennett of ML Bennett Consulting) the AICPA’s organizational strategy
workshop, “Retaining and Developing Women Leaders” and was a member previously
(2006 - 2009) of the AICPA Women’s Initiative Executive Committee. When he is not
assisting women’s initiatives, Todd facilitates mergers & acquisitions, turnarounds of
troubled organizations, and strategic planning efforts for Elliott Davis clients.
Todd received a Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in Tax Planning
from Indiana University and a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and Economics (summa
cum laude) from Hillsdale College (Michigan). He resides in Greenville, South Carolina
with his wife, Dianne, and their three children, Bradford, Mallory and Meredith.
Erin Booth is an Assistant Director at Ernst & Young, LLP based in Iselin, New Jersey
and is currently serving as an Executive Recruiter focused on the Advisory service line.
With Ernst & Young, Erin has experience as both a client-serving professional for several
years in Tax and internal-facing roles within the recruiting organization. From her earlier
years in the profession, she had a strong belief that public accounting firms “could be
better” for women, specifically regarding ascension to leadership and integration of work
and personal life. After witnessing the positive changes in flexible culture within the Big
4, Erin felt inspired to champion the cause by moving into an diversity and inclusiveness
role in the firm, as well as helping found the New Jersey Affiliate of the AWSCPA where
she serves on the board. She has been involved with WIEC for over 2 years.
Erin received a BS in Accounting from Rider University and is a CPA (inactive status) in
the state of California. She lives in Toms River, NJ with her husband Jeff and two
daughters, Meghan (8) and Madeline (5).
Louise Single is an Associate Professor and Accounting Programs Chair at St. Edward’s
University in Austin, Texas where she teaches financial accounting and taxation at the
undergraduate and graduate levels. Louise’s research focus for over a decade has been on
issues related to women’s advancement in accounting. She has published this research in
Issues in Accounting Education, Auditing: A Journal of Practice and Theory, The Journal
of Business Ethics, and The CPA Journal and has presented it at national and
international conferences. Her research has been recognized with grants and awards,
including Best Paper Awards from the American Accounting Association’s Gender Issues
and Diversity Sections.
Louise received her Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of Florida, a Master’s in
Taxation from Georgia State University and a B.S. in Psychology from Georgetown
University. She lives in Austin with her husband, Stephen, and their three children,
Elizabeth (21), Kate (13) and Matthew (11).
Margo Lind is an Senior Audit Manager at Harris, Cotherman, Jones Price and
Associates, Certified Public Accountants - Chartered in Vero Beach, Florida.
Previously, Margo was an Audit Manager for both Arthur Andersen and KPMG, and has
served as the CFO of a public company. As a women who has struggled for years to
balance both a successful career with a happy family, she has passion for promoting
women within the profession and helping to discover paths to allow women to advance
within the profession while still enjoying the rewards of motherhood and a family.
Margo received a BS in Accounting from Truman State University, an MAcc from
University of Missouri - St. Louis. She holds a CPA license in the State of Florida, and is
Certified in Financial Forensics and is a Certified Fraud Examiner. She lives with her
husband Tom and has two children, Thomas (27), who has recently graduated with a
degree in Accounting, and Samantha (4).
Stefanie Yurus is the Chief Financial Officer of Tenderloin Health in San Francisco,
California. Tenderloin Health is a not for profit organization which provides social
services and housing to one of San Francisco’s community in the greatest need. Stefanie
uses her many years of accounting and finance experience to help sheppard the
organization so that it can fulfill its mission. Stefanie has worked in many types of
organizations and has always encouraged the growth of her women colleagues. Stefanie
has served in various capacities with the American Women’s Society of CPAs including
most recently as National President. She also served as an officer of the Educational
Foundation for Women in Accounting.
Stefanie received a Masters in Finance from Golden Gate University in San Francisco and
a BS in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting and Finance from
University of California, Berkeley. She obtained her CPA in California while working
for KPMG. Stefanie lives in Walnut Creek with her husband, Steve, and their daughter
Claire (14).
