Leadership Windsor-Essex Alumni Award of Distinction Guidelines The Alumni Award of Distinction honours a Leadership Windsor-Essex alumnus who has made a significant impact on the local area through community and volunteer efforts. The award recognizes a graduate who has contributed to finding solutions to issues facing Windsor-Essex and is steering our community to a better quality of life. Objectives: □ To promote Leadership Windsor/Essex as an avenue for people from different sectors of the community to work together □ To strengthen partnerships in promoting and strengthening Windsor and Essex county □ To highlight and promote examples of action and reflection in self and others. Confidentiality All nominations received will be kept confidential by the Alumni Awards of Distinction Selection Committee. The nominee is expected to sign the nomination form to accept their nomination. Eligibility and Selection Criteria The following criteria will be used to determine the eligibility of Alumni nominated for the Alumni Award of Distinction and to select the winner(s) of the award. a) Must be a graduate of Leadership Windsor-Essex b) Must demonstrate community involvement since graduation and made a significant impact outside of their regular employment in areas such as: Arts and Community Life Business Human needs and services Community planning Economic development Education Environment Government Health Care Seniors and Youth Recipient must be present at the awards presentation unless unexpected illness or emergency. Exclusions: Alumni Network Award of Distinction Sub-committee members are not eligible for the award. Selection Committee: Selection Committee will strive to achieve: a) b) c) d) representation from business, public sector and not for profit gender balance cultural and ethnic diversity preference will be given to those candidates who have contributed to their community over a number of years. e) preference will be given to those candidates who have contributed to their local community Promotion of the Award: Request for nominations will be advertised through the following outlets: a) LWE website b) Email to LWE Alumni c) LWE community partners (ie: organizations who have sponsored participants) Process: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7.
