EXPLANATORY NOTES (Please read carefully) Application forms that are incomplete will not be accepted and will be returned. Note that applications are processed in the order of receipt so submitting an incomplete application may affect a candidate’s chances of attending the course on their preferred date. Course dates: Details of the course dates can be found in the Aviation Security Training information document at: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/aviation-security-training. Eligibility: Places on the DfT Instructors’ courses are only available to applicants who will be designing and / or delivering aviation security training in line with EC300, EU185 and the UK Single Consolidated Direction (Aviation) (aka the SCD) to ground security operatives and supervisors, aircrew and In-flight Supplies security staff. Applicants who will be designing and / or delivering any other aviation security training will only be considered by exception. All applicants must be qualified as a trainer before attending a DfT Instructors’ course. Evidence of any qualification(s) held (e.g. a copy of the course certificate) must be submitted either with the application form or separately by fax or post with a copy of the application form. Security Check: Attendance on this course is subject to a basic security check being completed. The check will be undertaken using the information provided on this form. Sponsorship: All applications must be sponsored. Where possible, the sponsor should be the Security Manager of an organisation that falls within the relevant legislation above. For organisations that fall outside of the requirements, the Training or HR Manager should sponsor the application. Other sponsors will only be accepted after agreement with the DfT. All applications must be prioritised by the sponsor. Allocation of Places: Due to high demand, places are usually limited to two per organisation. However, the DfT reserves the right either to reduce this to one per company, or to expand this to more than two should it be necessary. If an organisation intends to submit applications for more than one member of staff, they must indicate the order of preference in the “applicant priority” box on page 2. Course Charge: There is no charge for attending the Ground Instructors’ or Aircrew Instructors’ courses but successful applicants will be responsible for their own costs for travel, accommodation, etc. Withdrawals: You must contact us as soon as possible to let us know if an application is being withdrawn. Applicants for mandatory courses are reminded that they must make every effort to attend the next available course in order to ensure that they are not in breach of Directed requirements. The DfT reserves the right to fill spaces created by an application withdrawal from the reserve list. However, company swaps may be considered. Other information: Confirmation of the allocation of a space on a course will be given along with the joining instructions which are sent out approximately 6 weeks before the course commences.
