VOLUNTEER COMMITTEES - 2003
ADMISSIONS
Sell
tickets and exchange coupons if necessary, assist with security check of credentials, and distribute
spectator guides and pairing sheets at all entrance gates.
CADDIES
Assist with Contestant caddie registration, towel and caddie bib distribution. Assist in recruiting additional
caddies for Tuesday Pro-Am.
CARTS/SUPPORT VEHICLES Control inventory, distribution and collection of tournament carts during tournament week.
CORPORATE HOSPITALITY To provide information and assistance to corporate clients. Assist Security to ensure only properly
credentialed clients are allowed in private hospitality areas. Assist Marshals with noise control when
players are approaching hospitality areas.
COMMUNICATIONS
Help with a communications network that monitors and assists all tournament activities. Deliver phones to
hospitality areas and media center.
CONSTRUCTION & SIGNS
Assist with erecting, dismantling, inventorying, and storing tournament-related structures and construction
as required by the Tournament Director, Operations Manager and other committees. Most of this
committee’s work is accomplished the week prior to the tournament.
FOOD & BEVERAGE DIST.
Supply drinks and ice to appropriate committees (Volunteer Oasis) and provide water for the contestants
on course. Also, supply halfway houses and scoring tents with fruit, drink and snack products.
GREENSIDE LASER
Measure location of professional’s ball on green for scoring/statistic computer. Must be comfortable using
surveying laser equipment (similar to rifle site). This job is extremely busy and volunteer must be willing
to stay busy watching and measuring incoming golf shots.
INFORMATION
Staff the information areas on course to answer questions, direct spectators and hospitality clients, and pass
out spectator guides. Will also be responsible for lost and found.
MARSHALS
Provide gallery control for the tournament. To staff practice facility for the contestants and regulate access
to and from the facilities. Assist with moving contestants from green to tee. Representatives of the marshal
committee may be asked to operate ShotLink laser equipment in the fairways. ShotLink lasers are similar
to survey equipment.
MEDIA CENTER
Assist the Tournament Media Director in registration and welcome of local, national and international
journalists and to promote the image of THE TOUR Championship to the public as a world-class event.
OFFICE ADMINISTRATION
Assist the Tournament Office Staff prior to and during the tournament in the general administration of the
office. Assist with answering the phones, mailings, maintaining and inputting volunteer database.
PARKING/TRAFFIC
Supervise, operate and control proper access to all parking areas relating to public access to and from the
tournament site.
ROPING & STAKING
Stake and rope the main course and all ancillary areas as required the week prior to the tournament.
Maintain ropes during the week for player safety and maximize spectator viewing areas while leaving
ample room for errant shots.
SCORING/MONSTER BOARD
Scoring Volunteers are responsible for checking player' scorecards, verifying data to computer, updating
manual scoreboards, working Tuesday, Thursday through Sunday.
SPECIAL SERVICE SHUTTLES Provide cart transportation for VIP and handicapped spectators to and from their respective buses to special
golf course areas.
STANDARD BEARERS
Accompany each group of golfers and display their scores in relation to par on a cumulative basis. Must
work three days. ADULTS ONLY
SUPPLY DISTRIBUTION
Keep a pre and post tournament inventory of all tournament supplies and packages. To distribute,
maintain, and check status of all supplies, pairing sheets and programs. Extremely busy job.
TRANSPORTATION
Receive, inventory, number, and maintain a master record of all vehicles and what dealer they belong to.
Maintain a record of which each car is assigned to and ensure each person signs a release form. Provide
transportation for players, their families and VIP guests before, during and after the tournament, to and
from hotel, golf course and airport. Facilitate an evacuation plan for players and on-course volunteers in
case of inclement weather.
VOLUNTEER SERVICES
Assist in inventory, security, packaging, and distribution of all volunteer apparel and credentials. In
addition, to maintain supply lists for each committee while also providing supervision of Uniform
distribution area. Assist with volunteer tent during the tournament week and distribution of volunteer meal
vouchers. Checking in volunteers and answering questions.
WILL CALL
Provide a pickup location for credentials which have been ordered in advance or authorized by the
Tournament Office and other credentials or items left with the recipient designated.
