First Quarter Fund Scholarship Amount: Two $500 awards Established by: This scholarship is awarded annually and is funded by contributions from Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) graduating students and alumni through the First Quarter Fund. Open to: This scholarship is open to continuing HSS students. Criteria: Scholastic achievement and financial need. Application procedure: 1) Complete the SA application, answering all 7 questions, and sign the certification; 2) Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) (or have one on file) for establishing financial need; and 3) Submit application to College of Humanities and Social Sciences, H-211, Dean’s Office Scholarship Committee. Schweitzer Memorial Scholarship in the Humanities and Social Sciences Amount: $800 (and name on perpetual plaque) Established by: This scholarship was established in the Fall of 1993 to honor the memory of Vice President Don A. Schweitzer. Dr. Schweitzer joined the CSUF faculty in 1969 as a professor in the Psychology department. He held positions as Dean and Vice President, Academic Affairs. Professor Schweitzer demonstrated a lifelong dedication to excellence in higher education. Open to: This scholarship is open to continuing full-time upper division CSUF students with a major in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. Criteria: 3.0 GPA, leadership, and co-curricular activities. Application procedure: 1) Complete the SA application, answering all 7 questions, and sign the certification; and 2) Submit application to College of Humanities and Social Sciences, H-211, Dean’s Office Scholarship Committee. Open to: This scholarship is open to continuing HSS students who have returned to school after raising a family, establishing a career, or having to overcome other personal obstacles. Criteria: Scholastic achievement, financial need, and personal achievements. Application procedure: 1) Complete the SA application, answering all 7 questions, and sign the certification; 2) Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) (or have one on file) for establishing financial need; 3) Prepare a statement that addresses your personal situation that led to your return to school; and 4) Submit application to College of Humanities and Social Sciences, H-211, Dean’s Office Scholarship Committee.
