Catalog Description [§335.2] (Insert new/revised description in space below):
Introduces students to Invasive Cardiovascular Technology. This course
specifically discusses includes indications and contraindications for cardiac
catheterization, left and right heart procedures, arterial and venous access,
coronary angiography, application of pathophysiology, and procedural care.
Enrollment is restricted to students in the Cardiovascular Invasive Technology AS
program.
Minimum Grade Required

Upon successful completion of the course the student will be able to:
 Describe the variety of catheterization procedures including indications and
contraindications for each
 Discuss coronary artery disease, hemodynamic effects on the heart and
coronary anatomy in relationship to the procedure
 Discuss arterial and venous access, hemostasis, and closure devices

Assessment of student learning outcomes for the course, as required by AP 765, is
part of regular curriculum maintenance and/or improvement. The specific plan
has been determined by the pertinent faculty involved and is maintained in the
College’s assessment management system.
Assessment of learning is provided by quizzes and a take home assignment.
The faculty reviews a selected number of questions for each outcome and the
faculty reviews for effectiveness.
