She spent 11 years working in student services at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, first at the School of Nursing and then in the Registrar's Office. She migrated from Wisconsin to Oregon in 1996, to be near family and to leave behind snow, ice and humidity, and decided to broaden her skills in the business world. The desire to return to higher education surfaced, however, and she found the perfect solution in the CSSA program. Her career goal is to work in Financial Aid and she has a particular interest in transfer students. She has found it very interesting to return to higher ed as a student after thirty-some years --- a few things have changed! She helped train staff at Student Health Services since they didn't know that some students are old enough to be exempt from the immunization requirements. She also surprised an Army recruiter who called to offer up to $50K for educational expenses for students who enlist - obviously he had no idea he was calling a student who has adult children of her own! Barbara would be happy to be contacted over the summer -- at cormackb@onid.orst.edu. ANNETTE MARTEL Annette Martel grew up in North Dakota, but hasn't lived there since 1997 when she got her degree in communications from the University of North Dakota. Since taking her first "real job" in Georgia, where she worked in public relations for Habitat for Humanity International, she has gradually been moving Westward. Next she moved to Chicago where she managed Habitat for Humanity's campus chapters and got to drive around to pretty much every college in the Midwest and talk to students. She loved this, but she wanted to try her hand at being a writer, so she moved to Minneapolis to work for a PR firm and found out just how totally unfulfilling writing about "products" is. To remedy this and shock friends and relatives, she moved to Keystone, Colorado, to be a ski bum, but mainly to be with her boyfriend. And last fall, we moved to sunny Corvallis, Oregon. Annette's first year of grad school was spent as the grad assistant in Community Service Learning. Not to break her pattern of movement, she is moving into the Leadership grad assistantship for her second year--where her new office is ever-so-slightly West of her old office. Please feel free to contact me at annette_martel@yahoo.com EBI NETTO Name: Ebi Netto Status: Full Time Assistantship: Student Conduct Program Interests: Diversifying my experiences here at OSU in different departments both in student affairs & in academia.
