MIDWESTERN STATE UNIVERSITY
Unconditional Admission
Effective Fall 2006:
Prospective students who seek admission beginning fall 2006, will be required to submit the
writing portion of the new ACT and/or SAT exams to complete their application file. The ACT
and SAT scores below do not include the writing portion.

Students whose high school transcript does not reflect ranking must submit scores of 1110/24 to be
considered for unconditional admission.
Students taking classes for concurrent/dual credit must also have a cumulative grade point average of 2.0
on collegiate transfer work.
All beginning freshmen, under 21 at the time of registration, and transfer students, under 21 years of age,
who have fewer than 18 earned semester hours must take the SAT or ACT. Students 21 years of age or
older will not be required to take the ACT if they graduated in the top half of their class and meet all unit
requirements.
ADVISED ADMISSIONS
To be eligible for advised admission, a student must have no more than one high school unit deficiency and
an ACT composite score of 18 or higher or a SAT total score of 870 or higher. If the student is eligible for
advised admission, the Admissions Office will base its admission decision on an evaluation of the student’s
high school GPA, units, and SAT/ACT scores.
HOUSTON BAPTIST UNIVERSITY
SAT I recentered Composite score of 1010(480 critical reading + mathematical reasoning) or ACT
Composite score of 20 (20 English) HBU does require students to take the writing skills section. This section
is used for advising purposes.
UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT DALLAS
Automatic Admission
In accord with Chapter 51 of the Texas Education Code, students are automatically admitted to the
university as first time freshmen if they graduate in the top 10% of their class from an accredited Texas
high school.
Reviewed Admission
1.
Applications from all students not graduating from Texas high schools in the top 10% of their class,
as specified above, will be reviewed.
The review process gives primary consideration to the applicant’s scores on standardized tests and high
school record although no specific class rank, test score, or other qualification by itself assures admission
except as described above under Automatic Admissions. The decision for each applicant will be to approve
admission or to deny admission.
The achievement levels of students admitted to U.T. Dallas are illustrated by the following statistical profile
of the entering freshman class of Fall 2003.



72% of students were in the top 25% of their high school graduating class;
40% were in the top 10% of their class;
50% of students scored between 1130 and 1330 on the SAT I (the 2003 national
average SAT I was 1026).
UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT BROWNSVILLE
Anyone meeting one of the following conditions may be admitted:
By High School Graduation. A copy of the official high school transcript showing the date of graduation
must be submitted to the Office of Admissions prior to registration
UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT ARLINGTON
Students must meet requirements in one of these categories
Category I - Graduates of accredited Texas high schools whose cumulative grade point average ranks
them in the top 10% of their graduating class are automatically admissible to The University of Texas at
Arlington upon application as first-time freshmen during the 24 months following high school graduation.
Graduates must have taken either the SAT or ACT, with no minimum score required.
Category II - Applicants who meet the following criteria and high school preparation are guaranteed
admission.

Category II: Freshman applicants who are residents of Texas and who do not qualify under Category I are
eligible for participation in the START Program (visit website to find out about this program)
