RECOMMENDATIONS
Keep your grades as high as possible.
-Class rank is often a criterion for many scholarships. College courses both here
and at the Clarkson School are figured in when determining rank.
-Remain in a strong academic program for all four years of high school.
Keep a good character.
-Recommendations are likely to be needed from several teachers and your
counselor.
-Your attendance is a reflection of your character.
Keep involved in school activities.
-Clubs, organizations and sports are all equally important.
-Holding an office or being a captain is looked upon even more favorably.
Keep involved in community activities.
-Some examples are: hospital or nursing home volunteer, church activities, 4-H,
Boy/Girl Scouts, Senior Citizen Volunteer, Fire Department Member, Member of
the Fire Department Junior Explorers, Sons of the American Legion, American
Legion Auxiliary, Crop Walks, Bike-A-Thons, etc.
Students are responsible for each scholarship.
-Notices are posted outside the Guidance Office and in each English classroom.
Local Scholarships
Things to Remember:
 *Check the scholarship wall outside the guidance office.
 *Pick up applications in the high school guidance office.
 *Not all the scholarships are determined through the high school.
*You are sometimes responsible for mailing them out.
 *Check the scholarship spreadsheet to be sure and whether the
deadline is a post mark or received by date as many organizations
disqualify applicants who are even a day late!
 *Pay attention to deadlines.
 *Don’t dismiss applications just because they require an essay!
