SCHOLARSHIP CHARITABLE TRUST
PURPOSE OF THE TRUST
The purpose of the Missouri Park and Recreation Scholarship Charitable Trust is to manage funds
contributed by various organizations and individuals for the purpose of providing scholarships to college
students pursuing degrees in the field of Recreation/Parks/Leisure Services/Sport.
BOARD OF TRUSTEES
The Missouri Park and Recreation Scholarship Charitable Trust is administered by a board consisting of
representatives from each college or university authorized by the Trust to receive scholarships and the
President of the Missouri Park and Recreation Association or her designate. The Board of Trustees
receives donations and makes disbursements according to the registered declaration of the Trust.
SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION
Scholarships are awarded annually to students at Missouri universities who are declared majors in
Recreation/Parks/Leisure Services/Sport curriculums accredited by the National Recreation and Park
Association. Students in other Missouri Universities may apply for scholarships awarded from a trust
fund specifically established for majors at their university.
Scholarships typically range from $500 - $2000. In addition, the Missouri Park and Recreation
Association provides a free student educational conference registration and a ticket for the conference’s
awards banquet.
To be eligible, the student must:

Be enrolled, for at least the spring semester of the scholarship year, as a full-time junior, senior, or
graduate student in a qualifying Recreation/Parks/Leisure Services/Sport curriculum.
Have a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or better (4.0 scale) at the university from which the
scholarship is being sought.
Exhibit a sincere interest in recreation/parks/leisure service/ Sport and provide evidence of making
a positive contribution to the field.
Have the endorsement of the Chair or Faculty Advisor of the Recreation/Parks/Leisure
Services/Sport program at the university attended. Please send your application to the
appropriate faculty member that will support your application.
Students who have previously received an MPR scholarship may apply in subsequent years.

Return the completed application to their application sponsorby the deadline date on the
application.

Recipients will be notified by January and their department head will award their scholarship check in
February after the conference. Recipients will be required to attend the annual MPRA Conference during
the spring semester to be recognized and receive a scholarship certificate during the Association’s Awards
Banquet – See signature page following.

To make application for a scholarship available through the Missouri Park and Recreation
Scholarship Charitable Trust this form must be completed and submitted to the Department Head
of your major by Jan. 22, 2016.
I understand that by submitting this scholarship application and should I earn a scholarship I am
required to attend all or at a minimum the annual Missouri Park and Recreation Conference.
Funds I receive for this scholarship can and should be used to cover travel or lodging costs
associated with the conference. Conference registration ($395) is included free to all recipients.

Student Release Form For MPR Trust Information
Your signature on this form releases the Missouri Park and Recreation Trust from any liability in
the granting of the application materials to a third party. That third party is limited the Missouri
Parks and Recreation Association and no information will be sold or divulged to any other party.
The application materials will be kept confidential and only the applicants name, address,
scholarship and award will be used by the MPRA for annual conference registration.
The purpose of this disclosure is to inform through mailing that students receiving awards are
entitled to a free conference registration and free attendance at the annual banquet.
Only the awardees name, address, scholarship and award amount will be provided to MPRA.

STUDENT CONFERENCE ATTENDANCE AGREEMENT – Part II
By signing and applying for this scholarship I commit to attending all or a major
portion of the annual MPRA conference. I understand I will be released from PRT
classes for this with the approval of each instructor. I will also need to seek
approval from non-PRT instructors for attendance. PRT will assist you in this
request. I realize each faculty member has the authority to deny me missing class.
Scholarship awards are typically significant to cover all travel and lodging costs.
A full conference registration including most meals is provided as a scholarship
recipient.
