Revised January 2015
MINNESOTA SPEECH-LANGUAGE-HEARING FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP
Purpose
Minnesota Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation scholarships are awarded to select graduate students for
purposes of pursuing a post-baccalaureate degree (M.S./M.A., Ph.D., Au.D.; part-time or full-time) in speechlanguage pathology, audiology, or speech-language-hearing sciences. Scholarship recipients have a maximum of
two years to spend the award. Scholarship recipients are chosen by the MSHF Scholarship Committee.
Eligibility
Applicants must be enrolled in, or accepted to, a graduate program at a Minnesota University
(a university registrar or department chair may be contacted to confirm acceptance/
enrollment). Individuals who have received a MSHF scholarship award in the past five (5)
years are not eligible to apply.
Application Process
All application materials must be received by the deadline for the application to be
considered by the Scholarship Committee. The following application materials are required:
1. A completed scholarship application. The application may be reproduced on a word processor
and submitted via U.S. mail or email.
2. A one-page written narrative (attached to the application) describing career goals and
qualifications for the scholarship.
3. Official academic transcripts for all colleges/universities attended.
4. Three letters of recommendation including at least one from a university instructor.
Deadline
All application materials must be received by March 1. Materials should be sent to:

Note: Do not send any application materials via U.S. mail that require a signature (e.g., registered, certified,
express, etc.) unless you sign a waiver form at the post office. Materials requiring a signature CANNOT
be accepted. Materials must be delivered to the address listed above. Thank you for your cooperation.
Selection Process
Applications are reviewed by the MSHF Scholarship Committee and rated on the basis of the scholarship
application materials. Those applications with the highest overall ratings will be awarded scholarships. The number
of scholarships and the dollar amount is set each year by the Foundation Board of Directors. Applications are rated
strictly on the basis of merit without regard to the current Minnesota university program in which the applicant is
enrolled. Scholarships are awarded each year at the annual MSHA Spring Convention. Scholarship recipients are
asked to attend the convention awards presentation. By submitting an application you are giving the Foundation
permission to use your name, narrative and/or photo for fundraising and publicity efforts.
