Revised January 2015 MINNESOTA SPEECH-LANGUAGE-HEARING FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP Purpose Minnesota Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation scholarships are awarded to select graduate students for purposes of pursuing a post-baccalaureate degree (M.S./M.A., Ph.D., Au.D.; part-time or full-time) in speechlanguage pathology, audiology, or speech-language-hearing sciences. Scholarship recipients have a maximum of two years to spend the award. Scholarship recipients are chosen by the MSHF Scholarship Committee. Eligibility Applicants must be enrolled in, or accepted to, a graduate program at a Minnesota University (a university registrar or department chair may be contacted to confirm acceptance/ enrollment). Individuals who have received a MSHF scholarship award in the past five (5) years are not eligible to apply. Application Process All application materials must be received by the deadline for the application to be considered by the Scholarship Committee. The following application materials are required: 1. A completed scholarship application. The application may be reproduced on a word processor and submitted via U.S. mail or email. 2. A one-page written narrative (attached to the application) describing career goals and qualifications for the scholarship. 3. Official academic transcripts for all colleges/universities attended. 4. Three letters of recommendation including at least one from a university instructor. Deadline All application materials must be received by March 1. Selection Process Applications are reviewed by the MSHF Scholarship Committee and rated on the basis of the scholarship application materials. Those applications with the highest overall ratings will be awarded scholarships. The number of scholarships and the dollar amount is set each year by the Foundation Board of Directors. Applications are rated strictly on the basis of merit without regard to the current Minnesota university program in which the applicant is enrolled. Scholarships are awarded each year at the annual MSHA Spring Convention. Scholarship recipients are asked to attend the convention awards presentation. To References of Scholarship Applicants: The Minnesota Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation (MSHF) annually awards a postbaccalaureate scholarship to a graduate student who exhibits outstanding academic, clinical and/or research abilities. The MSHF Scholarship Committee gives a great deal of weight to letters of recommendation when evaluating scholarship applicants. Please be as specific as you can when discussing the applicant.
