New Faculty Orientation
E. Daffron opened the meeting by giving an update on new faculty orientation.

N. Salter will do part of the orientation and another faculty member will help out with teaching
circles and scholarship.
A draft template letter that would go to new faculty was discussed along with suggested topics
that could be covered in the program and repercussions for not finishing the orientation or
completing submissions. This will be discussed further in a future deans’ council meeting.
Graduate Council Policies
Procedure 300-H Assessment of Prior Learning for Academic Credit
The portion of the procedure that deals with Graduate Programs had language suggestions:
“Not all Graduate Programs accept GLEX credit.”
Policy/Procedure on Grading Systems
The Procedure is divided into two parts: Graduate and Undergraduate.
H or Honors grades should be deleted for Undergraduate students; for Graduate students the
grade of C- has been added.
Undergraduate portion: RF grade option – change: “the course must be the same as the earlier
failed course” to “The course must bear the same course number as the earlier failed course.”
The Grading System Policy is new.
Suggestions on wording - “To Whom Does the Policy Apply.”
Policy/Procedure 300-GG – Independent Studies
Bullets on one and two reference undergraduate students
New language was added from Graduate Council in bullet 3
Suggestion to remove #5 bullet – “The dean of the school sponsoring the Independent Study
may make exceptions to the four previous procedures. May add mention of an appeal process
toward end of bullet list.
Policy now has a procedure related to Graduate Students.
There was a suggestion to have the program director sign off on form.
Undergraduate Teaching Load
There is a Policy on Undergraduate Teaching Responsibilities #260209-02 created without a
procedure.
E. Daffron will draft a procedure to go along with this policy.
Memorandum of Agreement
Temporary changes to the Memorandum of Agreement were made in order to offer 4 credit
courses in the fall. This is a one year agreement -- it takes effect September 1, 2015 and
expires as of July 1, 2016. Deans are to review this agreement and send comments to the
Provost.
Discussion of Grants and Pathways program
C. Romano presented data on students who were accepted to Ramapo but chose to go to other
schools. It was broken down by competitors for each individual school. He will send the
reports to each dean.
S. Perry reviewed the proposed spring 2016 schedule.
