BROMSGROVE SCHOOL JOB DESCRIPTION: Director of Cricket at Bromsgrove School Line Manager: Reports directly to Second Deputy Head (Co-Curricular) Liaises with Head of Boy’s P.E., Head of Girl’s P.E. (Senior and Preparatory School), Director of Finance, Assistant Head, Enterprise Manager Salary: To be negotiated. Hours of Work: During school terms you will be required to work all school hours while the School is in session and at any other time ( including during school holidays, at weekends and before and after the school’s normal starting and finishing times) as may be necessary in the reasonable opinion of your Line Manager for the proper performance of your duties. Holidays: Subject to the section Hours of Work above, you are entitled to take all School holidays in accordance with the published dates in the school calendar. Public and Bank Holidays occurring during school terms may well be working days. Sickness Benefit: Statutory Sick Pay only in the first twelve months of service. After this the following applies: One week of full pay after one year of service Three week’s of pay after two years of service Five week’s of pay after three years of service Eight week’s of pay after four years of service Eight weeks is the maximum entitlement. GENERAL OVERVIEW To be responsible for Cricket throughout the Bromsgrove School system. To develop and promote Cricket through the School’s Marketing Department appropriate external bodies. MAIN DUTIES 1. To be responsible for the overall administration of youth cricket within Bromsgrove School in accordance with agreed School policies. To establish a Development Plan for the overall infrastructure of school cricket to cover performance, coaching and facilities at all levels. 2. To ensure a co-ordinated approach to Cricket Development Foundation, participation, performance and excellence through the support of associated development and P.E. staff in all sections of the School. 3 To review and recommend budgets for the cricket programme. To create sponsorship, grant aid, revenue projects and make National Lottery bids in conjunction with appropriate staff. To seek grant aid and financial support for Development plans and programmes. 4. To oversee the administration of all youth cricket in conjunction with the Master i/c Cricket . 5. To support the Cricket programme through coaching the First Eleven and to establish a support programme of sports science, psychology, lifestyle, fitness and diet. 6. To be responsible for the organisation of regular cricket tours at all levels but particulary the First Eleven. 7. To organise, manage and market to the cricket fraternity of clubs, schools and outside organisations, events such as cricket festivals, tournaments, tours (male and female) at Bromsgrove School. 8. To strengthen links between Bromsgrove School and other cricket organisation including local cricket boards and the ECB via events and matches. 9. To work with associated staff to ensure the future of ground care, scoring, umpiring, coaching and women’s cricket by reviewing standards regularly and are improved by the implementation of training and INSET days for appropriate staff. 10. To make recommendations for additional, appropriate cricket staffing to the Second Deputy Head (Co-Curricular) to support the development of School Cricket and specialist sessions. 11. To work alongside the Marketing Department to promote sports events, taster days, recruitment drives. 12. To research and implement holiday clubs and activities at Bromsgrove School in conjunction with the Director of Finance and Marketing Department. 13.To oversee the School Badminton Programme during the Michaelmas and Lent terms. 14. To work in conjunction with P.E. staff at Bromsgrove School to support games teaching and to Manage/coach teams as necessary.
