1.
1.1
STUDENT PLACEMENT
This agreement is made between the “Student” and the
University of Limerick and this term shall include its successors
and assignees.
2.
2.1
NATURE OF STUDENT WORK PLACEMENT
Your title is Cooperative Education Work Placement Student.
2.2
This contract applies from the dates set out on page 1.
2.3
The placement is whole-time. Your hours of work will be
determined in accordance with the requirements of your
college/division or department.
3.
3.1
WORK PLACEMENT REMUNERATION
The work placement remuneration is €17,542.20 p.a. pro rata.
3.2
Student Placement Salary is payable monthly in arrears (subject
to all statutory and agreed deductions). Payment of salary will
be made by credit transfer to a bank account of your choice, and
such payment arrangements shall remain in force until otherwise
mutually agreed.
3.3
The University reserves the right to make deductions from
payments due to you so as to reimburse sums due by you to the
University.
4.
4.1
LEAVE
The appointee is entitled to 20 working days per annum pro rata.
Prior arrangements shall be made with the President or his
nominee to establish suitable time, or times, for such leave.
4.2
Salary payments during properly certified sick leave may be
allowed in accordance with the regulations made by the
University from time to time. If sick pay is allowed you will be
obliged to claim sick benefit from the Department of Social
Welfare. All social welfare payments as a result of paid sick
leave will be refunded to the University.
5.
5.1
DUTIES
Student Work Placement shall carry out the duties assigned to
them by the President, or such other persons as may from time
to time be specified.
5.2
You will be required to comply with the rules, regulations,
policies, procedures and statutes of the University currently in
force and as they are amended from time to time.

6.
6.1
DISCIPLINARY AND GRIEVANCE PROCEDURES
Any grievance relating to this student placement shall be raised
in accordance with University’s procedures.
6.2
The University deals with disciplinary matters in accordance with
its procedures.
7.
7.1
RESIGNATION
Notice of resignation should be given as far in advance as
possible. Written notice of at least one month shall be given by
the appointee who wishes to resign.
7.2
On termination of your Student Placement for whatever reason,
you will be required to return to the University, without delay, all
University property in your possession, including files, keys,
notes, papers, reports etc., as well as any copies of these. Any
equipment that is the property of the University including
laptops, mobile phones, personal computers etc must also be
returned.
8.
8.1
TERMINATION OF APPOINTMENT BY THE UNIVERSITY
The University reserves the right to terminate your student
placement in appropriate circumstances.
9.
9.1
CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION
The performance of duties and responsibilities will expose you
to information which may be confidential to the University,
disclosure of which would adversely affect the interests of the
University, its staff or its students.
Such disclosure of
information either during or after your Student Placement will
constitute cause for disciplinary action up to and including
dismissal, in accordance with agreed procedures, and could
also result in legal action
10.
10.1
DATA PROTECTION ACTS 1988 and 2003
The University obtains and processes personal data for a variety
of personnel administration, work and general management
purposes. The University may also, from time to time, disclose
such personal data to third parties that provide products or
services to the University. The University will not disclose your
personal data for any purpose incompatible with the Data
Protection Act 1988 and 2003 unless it is required or authorised
by law, authorised by you, or in your own vital interest (e.g., in
the case of a medical emergency).
The University reserves the right to amend these terms and
conditions of Student Work Placement from time to time
