How to Generate Random Numbers
TI 86
A. If you want random counting numbers
1. Press 2nd MATH (MATH is above the  key)
2. Press F2 (PROB)
3. Press F5 randIn
4. After the parentheses, enter: lowest value , highest value ). Your screen should
say randInt(#,#). Press ENTER.
Your screen will display a random counting number.
To get additional random numbers, just press ENTER. Each time you do this you will get
another random number.
B. If you want random decimal numbers
1. Press 2nd MATH (MATH is above the  key)
2. Press F2 (PROB)
3. Enter rand
4. Press ENTER
Your screen will display a random decimal number. You may round the number to as many
places as you wish.
To get additional random numbers, just press ENTER. Each time you do this you will get
another random number.

3. Arrow down to 5. randInt( Then press ENTER.
4. After the parentheses, enter: lowest value , highest value ). Your screen should
